I need a pick-me-up.
I am a bit sad, because I got my first ticket today. I didn't realize that I had gone into a different speed area and boom. I got pulled over. I won't fight it, because I was speeding, but man, my perfect record is ruined. How's that for turning a day bad. And in New York, you don't even find out how much it is. You are assigned a court date and they tell you when you go there.

Hope you feel better!
In my area, which is suburban, we have a pretty good grid-pattern with our streets. You are driving along at 45, hit an intersection, and bam, down to 40 just like that! SOme of the cross-streets, mainly neighborhoods have center islands with large shrubs/trees, and the cops just love to hang out in this area.

Really bites huh? Sorry to hear that! I know how you feel, after a PERFECT 30 year driving record, I got popped about 4 months ago, I was stopped for doing 67 in a 55 MPH zone, didn't get a ticket for speed, got one for NO seatbelt....imagine that, a Reserve Police Officer getting CITED for not wearing a seat belt!

That's such a bummer, Anthony. Sorry to hear it.
Shame on you, Dennis, for not wearing your seatbelt!
j/k I keep after my husband about that very thing. (I nag well, don't I?) I think there's a seatbelt law in every state except maybe New Hampshire ("Live Free or Die" is their motto btw).
I've only lived in Indiana for a year, and I've been pulled over for speeding twice after going 20 years with nothing! It's these straight, bony, country farm roads that I'm not used to. The speed limit is 30, which I didn't know at the time and don't agree with anyway, and I seem to feel comfortable at 48 because that's what they clocked me at both times. Being ultra polite and having kids in the car probably got me a warning both times.
Now I set my cruise control on those roads every day.

My daughter had a perfect driving record for 4 months and got caught by radar doing 46 in a 25! She had to go to Driver Improvement School and has 30 hours of community service to perform in lieu of a fine. And since she's only 16 she had to appear in juvenile court. The good thing is that the Driver Improvement School wipes the ticket off her record and her insurance doesn't go up.

Too bad you don't live in Louisiana! My husband got 525.00 worth of tickets...I called a friend, who called a friend and today everything just dissappeared...this amazing state of Louisiana and it's politics. Unfortunatly...it's those who can't afford to pay the price, that don't have the strings to pull..unfair sometimes, isn't it?

I was driving down the Turnpike the other day at 80mph (way over the speed limit). I saw a police car right up the road with his radar gun pointing right at me. He pulled me over.
He asked "Why were you going so fast?"
I said "I'm late for work".
He said "What kind of work do you do?"
I said " I'm an anus stretcher."
He said "How do you do that?"
I said "Well, you insert one finger, the two, then your whole hand till you finally have the anus stretched to six feet."
He said "What do you do with a six foot a$$hole."
I said "Put him in a uniform and give him a radar gun!"
Ticket ----- $125.00
Look on his face ------ Priceless
Chin up Stormraiser it happens to the best of us.

I mean this with all respect, but that comment may have tacked a few bucks onto the fine.

My car died in the parking lot this evening. Mine wouldn't even go the speed limit.
Anthony... keep a chin up! I don't think you have the worst driving record in the forums *looks for Jacki*!

Anthony, I am also sorry to hear what transpired today.
I want to see those grid-pattern streets in and around Omaha, Nebraska. I haven't been out of the Eastern Time Zone yet.
Good one, Garrett. I think he (George) liked it, too.

I know that feeling when you see a flashing light behind you. You slow down by instinct and hope it isn't you.
If it is any consolation, I got my first speeding ticket on the way home from a funeral. I had five other people with me. Boy were they quiet on the last half hour of the trip back.
Of course, I made excuses like "Geez, they should put those signs where you can see em," and "They just sit and wait for ya in these little towns to give the police something to do."
In reality, I was going 49 in a 35.
Sorry to hear about the ticket. There are so many better things to do with that money!!
