It's spring break for me. Any suggestions for things to do?

I'm one of those people who would rather work than stay home due to empty nest syndrome. lol With over a week on my hands, can anyone come up with some fun things to do? I'll read and go to the movies and out to lunch with my friend, etc., but do you have any other ideas?

How about a nice trip to a day spa? Pamper yourself a bit ;-)

Reading a good book about how to deal with the Empty Nest sounds good. With a glass of iced-tea and some Girl Scout cookies nearby, perhaps.

How's about a day at a spa? It can be expensive but worth every penny.

Picking up on Popsky's suggestion... head to a local bookstore and browse...or even the library. I can spend hours in places like that and I bet you can, too. You will be out and about, but still doing something relaxing!!

How about alphabetizing your spice cabinet? LOL That's the crazy advice I get from people when you say you have some downtime. :-) Lots of good advice here Sunnyday - I'd do a little of them all. Get some extra rest, read a good book or two and hit the spa! That spice cabinet - forget it. I was just kidding anyway.....LOL

Miss Mary...alphabetizing the spice cabinet? Don't you have to know what's in those containers first? I think we still have some from our first year of marriage in there with no idea what the spice really is!

...another idea, plan a garden (not PLANT a garden, but plan one) Flowers? Veggies? A row or two, or maybe more. Head out to get the seeds and start some seedlings!

Maybe a chia garden!

Ahhh Bill, nothing quite like a relaxing afternoon with some gun metal, a tool kit rolled up in a bag, a polishing cloth, and the best oil you can buy!

...and when you're all done, what a sense of pride in the quality and heart that went into it.

How about it Sunnyday?

Steel finishing is relatively easy, Poppysky...it's what one does with the upper and lower handguard, grip and buttstock...that is, the WOOD furniture that "makes or breaks" the project.

I only employ boiled linseed oil (which can be had in "wood-tone" finishes), sanding films, and BLO paste (1/3 boiled linseed oil, 1/3 turpentine and 1/3 pure beeswax) for final finishing...the paste is also good for "usual maintenance and upkeep", leaving the rifle feeling GOOD and smelling as if it were just issued.

I remember my folks, sister and I one year for a summer vacation trip to see my paternal grandparents in Indiana...we all made some up things to do just to be corny!

1) 'Split' peas for homemade pea soup

2) Exhume a body (they live near a city cemetery) and play medical examiner

Just some humors there, Sunnyday! Seriously though, have an awesome Spring Break, Wxbuddy! :D
