"WOW!".....haven't seen a night like THAT in EONS! Don't know exactly how much snow I have, judging by the flower beds etc, it APPEARS I've got a SOLID 12" :eek:

Phoenix and outlaying areas were hit HARD, hail in Sun City West (this was on the news last night, their traffic helicopter was following this system thru the city) had reports of 3" of hail covering the ground, downtown Tempe, Mesa had hail covering the groud, street flooding, road closures, a funnel cloud was spotted near Queen Creek....all in all, a "Surprise" to say the least :eek:

Well, I was only 2" off my *guess* :wink:

I've got 10" on level, 18-19"
drifts in spots.....it's a WET, HEAVY, limb breaking snow! Powers out over 1/2 the mountain, HOPE we DON'T loose power today, it's flickerin' off and on however :eek:

Just finished blowing the driveway, had to come in and warm up, then it back outside knocking snow off trees before it breaks the limbs off. Offical rainfall amounts for Phoenix and outlaying areas:

Phoenix Sky Harbor: 1.11"
Scottsdale Airport: 2.24"
Tempe: 1.43"

What a way to finish winter huh?

ONE MORE BLAST then it's OVER....forecast highs for the weekend over 60° .....then 70's by MONDAY?? :?:

Good to hear you got some late winter snow. I didn't know Arizona had a ski resort, but I bet the skiing is great there today.

There's 2...Snowbowl in Flagstaff, 1 lift, don't know the # of runs and Sunrise Park Resort near me. Sunrise compares to Apsen Colo, Teluride. They have 8 big lifts and a NEW high speed quad lift (a 15$ million adventure the tribe invested in.) Crowds over the Presidents Day weekend 2 weeks ago........"OVER 30,000 people :eek:

Arizona has several ski resorts. One on Mt.Lemmon near Tucson is the southernmost ski resort in the 48 contiguous States (the southernmost in all 50 States is located on Mauna Loa in Hawai'i). Mt Lemmon received a foot of snow from the first part of the system which also brought moderate rains to far SE AZ (and then proceeded to maul the Southern Plains). This second system was the kicker trough which did about as expected from a standpoint that the main impact was in Central and Northern AZ. Where reality departed from expectations was in the intensity of the activity. This resulted from the fact that we had low level SE-E flow wrapping moisture ahead of the approaching system with strong WSW flow aloft. Additionally, skies were initially clear in western AZ which allowed temperatures to climb under the March Sun to the 70's. Strong dynamics, good heating, decent shear vectors-is it any wonder why PHX had severe boomers and we had such an impact with it up north? This double barreled hit is typical of winter type systems here where we get a strong ULL accelerating ahead of the kicker and is good because the whole state wound up sharing in the wealth. Despite this though, much of AZ remains below normal for the year to date in moisture though down here we are above.

Oh yeah.......I forgot about Mt. Lemmon, Williams :oops:

Here's a link to Sunrise Park Resort.....check out the webcams. Sunrise has had 3/4 of it's normal snowpack.....should be some pretty decent runoff into the Salt River in the coming month!

Wow you learn something new every day! I figured Arizona had the mountains and snow for skiing since New Mexico has many ski resorts, but I had never heard of any.
