Spring then back to Winter for OV/NE/LAKES/MA ?????

#1 Postby Guest » Thu Mar 04, 2004 7:55 pm

Yep it looks like after a few warm days this week especially tomorrow in alot of the OV and MA with alot of places getting to near 70 or above will turn colder again by Saturday and maybe even some wet snow perhaps in the Lakes and n.OV but the bigger story develops on Sunday night into Monday as a clipper type system drops down from canada and runs thru the OV over and off the MA coast bringing with it a few inches of snow perhaps in alot of these areas.

A days or two after that another system will drop in bring with it another shot of snow for the OV over into the MA and NE.

Exactly how much snow for either system? Hard to say at this point as the models will be having a hard time figureing out which system will develop and which one wont develop as much. More or less one should develop but will probably take away from the other. Either way winter isnt done with just yet in these areas. Gonna be cold for the most part next week with most places averaging from 10 to perhaps 15 below normal and maybe a warm up after that depending on what the clippers do.

Yup...it's going to be an active next 7 days. Rain, then snow? It'll be interesting to see what future model runs show...but it is something to watch! :D The UKMET is especially interesting with a 998 Low Pressure off the Virginia Capes.

It's too warm too early for Western NY. I think March has something in store for us, maybe not a monster, but significant nonetheless.

After great sunny spring weather yesterday...snow is coming back. BLAH! Bah humbug thats all I have to say. The ground is bare again, the buds are starting to pop up. And now, there is mention of snow in the forecast. After a long winter, I for one am not happy to see this. Even the late evening discussion from State College is interesting tonight for tomorrow afternoon's and evening's snow.

KEPT SUNDAY AS IS WITH POTENT CLIPPER TYPE SYSTEM DROPPING INTO THE
REGION. HAS A VERY INTERESTING LOOK TO IT AS IT IS FCST TO CLOSE OFF
ALOFT AS IT MOVES OVHD...THEN SLOW ALONG THE COAST AS SFC LOW BOMBS
OUT OVER GULF STREAM. MAIN THING FOR US IS THE POTENTIAL FOR A
CONVECTIVE BURST OF SNOW LATER TMRW. MID LEVEL LAPSE RATES ARE FCST
TO STEEPEN SHARPLY DURG THE AFTERNOON AND EVENING. ETA FCSTS
T-TOTALS TO APPROACH 60. IT LOOKS GOOD FOR SOME LOW TOPPED
CONVECTION...POSSIBLY SOME SMALL HAIL OR EVEN A THUNDER-SNOW SQUALL
MAYBE MAKING THE EVENING SHIFT INTERESTING SUNDAY.

Hopefully, this won't mount to much and it will be gone by the middle of the week.
