You must not have read what I said. My vote (or lack thereof) represents a vote of "no confidence." It's a term used by official bodies, I know this, because I sit on my college governing council. If you do not agree or believe in something, you abstain from the vote. Does it mean you do not care about it? No, of course not! I do not believe in a bipartisan race, where any small voice goes unheard! It is not the voter's fault, it is the system. I do not agree with the system. Therefore I will not take part in it! So don't tell ME that I don't have a right to complain because I don't vote. Such trite blanket statements do not work, at least not with me!

Point of parliamentary procedure?

Not voting or abstaining is not the same as a vote of no confidence. A motion of no confidence has to be made and then, if the motion carries, it is voted upon. It is rarely used in a two-party system like what we have here in the states. Great Britain and Germany's parliaments have used it in the past. For example, in Germany, a vote of no confidence is used to remove a Chancellor from office only if a successor is chosen at the same time.

I'll give you that -- that it's not on the ballot (I assume you mean the S2K poll).

However, my point was that if a true motion of no confidence were in order, you'd have to vote in order for it to pass. By abstaining, the majority would most likely win because your vote would not have counted one way or the other.

But I get what you're getting at also.

Thanks! I was in a couple of mock government assemblies in school -- one was a mock UN assembly and the other was based on the Commonwealth's governmental assemblies.

You haven't shed any light. I ALREADY acknowledged being rude to her, it was the second post that did not need to be deleted. Why do you continue to bring up the 1st post? And you know what?
