We're FLOODED out!

#1 Postby azsnowman » Sat Mar 13, 2004 7:49 am

I posted this under the severe weather forum, but I thought I'd post it here too. We had just under 3.23" of rain overnight from HEAVY thunderstorms, the snow level was very high, needless to say, the snowpack is GONE and as they say, "S*** flows downhill!" WELL....we're downhill and we're FLOODED OUT bigtime, I can't see the damage just yet as it's still dark, I'll let ya know just how bad the damage is, it's NOT good I can tell ya that much!

It's not in the house, but from what I can see, it "ALMOST" to the back porch. These cells last night were indicative of the monsoon season, severe CG, CC lightning and they stalled over the Rim from 2300 till 0230 this morning.....it was a WILD night, Sweetz slept on the bed with us, she can't STAND the thunder! ANCHORS AWEIGH MY BOYS! Man the lifeboats, man overboard!

I couldn't help but think of Miss Mary's thread "When It Rains, It Pours".

I hope that it doesn't get into your house Dennis. It's ashame that that much moisture didn't come over a couple of weeks to help with the drought!

Keep us updated!

Well.....it did SOME damage to the yard, the foundation is secure, I'm just gonna have to haul some rock...the water created a 3' deep cut around the foundation SO.....I've got some dirt out back that I can put in it for now but....the ONLY PROBLEM, it's fixing to POUR AGAIN :grr: It's warming up creating some high base boomers ALREADY  This is BIZZARE weather for sure, this only happens in the SUMMER during monsoon season, I've NEVER seen boomers like this this time of year!

NOW...as far as FISHIN' goes, this RIVER I've got does come from a private lake, it's stocked with trout and Blue Gill 8-) Can't see any just yet, it's running too swift, the last time the creek overflowed like this (last August) we caught 13 Blue Gill and stuck them in our BIG Koi pond out back, reckon this summer they'll be just about ready to HARVEST, fish fry anyone? 8-)

Be careful that you don't get swept up in it Dennis! A 3' hole around the foundation is unbelievable!

Not good Dennis. Please get some pics and stay safe.

There was a dam that burst in Marion County, MS yesterday. Everything was under water and alot of homes swept away or flooded. We have rain on the way too.

I'm sorry to hear about that Dennis. As if you don't have enough to do. Take it easy on the back. Hire a kid to do the hard work.

Put on the waders Steve, cuz it's a fixin' to get DEEP "LOL!" Seriously, after filling the trench back in, we took a drive, EVERY SINGLE dry creek bed, every single creek (they've been dry for over 2 years) is running bank to bank, in some instances, Billy Creek, is running over 30' WIDE  And of course I forgot to take the dang camera, I swear, I'd forget my head if it weren't tied on! So far, it's yet to rain, THANK God, it looked liked it when I posted this morning but it headed south. I've got some pretty heavy, tall boomers to my NE...that's the direction they snuck in from last night, haven't looked at the radar to see which way their going/coming.

thunderstorms do occur here in March and in fact we've even seen funnels here in March and Warren Faidley videotaped a tornado in Tucson in March 1994. We had hail and a brief hard shower from boomers here this morning and are approaching twice normal rainfall for March. Our Dec-Mar secondary rainy season total is at 3.46in which is only 0.13in below normal for the period and the best such since the Niño season in 1997-98. Not enough to end the drought but enough to ease it slightly. We see boomers over the high country N-NE of us but it's debatable as to whether or not any of that will make it down here.
