Cluster of lightning strikes across extreme western Texas and southeastern New Mexico, as well as across west-central Oklahoma.

68.77% increase from 12:00 am EST to 4:00 am EST.


There was quite a bit of activity from southeastern Kansas southwestward through Oklahoma, northern Texas and eastern New Mexico.

A Severe Thunderstorm Watch was in effect from 3:00 am CST to 7:00 am CST across central and western Oklahoma, eastward to the panhandle of Texas. Several Severe Thunderstorm Warnings were also issued.

Impressive lightning strikes numbers this afternoon. Thunderstorms were occurring across
eastern Kansas southwestward into west-central and western Oklahoma, southward into
northern and central Texas.

Another smaller cluster was across southeastern Texas and older strikes (back to 12:30 pm
EST) were across northern Missouri and very few (closer to 2:30 pm EST) were in northern
Arizona.

Large area of thunderstorms from extreme western Missouri, southwestern Missouri, extreme western Arkansas, central Oklahoma into northeastern Texas.

5:30 pm EST to 7:30 pm EST: 4,623

Lightning strikes were from extreme southwestern Pennsylvania southwestward to
the Mississippi/Arkansas/Louisiana border.

A small cluster was situated over northern Texas (due south of the Oklahoma panhandle)

There was also isolated activity in this two hour period across the Oregon/Washington
border, eastern Washington and southwestern Canada (north of Washington).

4:30 pm EST to 6:30 pm EST: 1,682

Thunderstorms across north-central Florida (and to the east of Tampa) was one out of several areas of activity.

The other areas include isolated activity over the Carolinas, the southwestern Gulf of Mexico [two clusters], extreme southern Texas into northern Mexico and areas across west-central and central Texas.

This Watch Box is in effect until 11:00 pm CST, it went into effect at 5:10 pm CST.

Thunderstorm activity was occurring across the Tennessee Valley and Great Lake, across the bootheel of Missouri, a portion of Tennessee as well as Kentucky and northern Ohio and southern Quebec, respectively.

Lightning was stretched from southwestern Pennsylvania southwestward to Arkansas to a more broken line through Oklahoma and nothern Texas, as well as into northern Mexico; around the El Paso, Texas area.

Thunderstorms were across Iowa, western Illinois, central Missouri, as well as southern Kansas and extreme northern Oklahoma.

Thunderstorm activity was occurring from the Nebraska/Iowa border south-southwestward through eastern Kansas, then across northern Oklahoma.

A very large cluster of thunderstorms was occurring across extreme southern Texas and over the extreme western Gulf of Mexico, these lightning strikes were moving into the Gulf.

Thunderstorms were across the Florida panhandle, over western Mississippi, northeastern Texas,
scattered across the Rocky Mountain states and clusters over north-central Kansas and central
as well as south-central Indiana.

Most of the the storms were occurring across Mississippi, Alabama, extreme southwestern Georgia,
off the Georgia and South Carolina coast and at and southeast of the "Four Corners" region; over
New Mexico.

A small area was in central Ohio, as well.

There were lightning strikes off the Atlantic coast, from off the Delmarva Peninsula southward,
off the Carolina and Florida coasts.

Another large cluster of strikes was across the northwestern Texas panhandle and a very small
cluster several miles south of Brownsville, Texas.

Activity was most across eastern Texas and western Arkansas, with scattered strikes across
extreme northwestern Texas, portions of New Mexico, Arizona, Utah and Colorado.

I small cluster was also several miles west of Key West, FL.

A large cluster of thunderstorms, some severe, were across southeast-central Texas
and most of Arkansas. Other areas of activity included east-central North Carolina and
a swath of somewhat broken lightning strikes over Arizona, southwestern New
Mexico and over northern Mexico, in the vinicity of El Paso, Texas.
