Green Acres!

#1 Postby Miss Mary » Thu Mar 18, 2004 9:35 pm

Green Acres' pilot aired today on TV Land. My 'crazy about Sponge Bob' 13 year old was flipping around and found it. Mmmmm, what's Green Acres Mom? So with little introduction she stayed with it. She thought it was pretty silly, which is impressive, Green Acres bumped Sponge Bob. Another episode is just now airing and I overheard Laura tell her sister - Nina, there's a wacky show on called Green Acres, it's really funny, come watch it with me.

I tell you that was a blast from the past. And funny, she asked if their house ever got fixed up! Similar to that question I asked my dad year after year - does Gilligan and the gang ever get off the island Dad?

Any Green Acres fans out there?

Mary

I think Arnold the pig may have been Crouton's mentor.

I do a mean impersonation of Arnold the Pig!

Mr. Haney was the best, with all his schemes.
I love Lisa's cooking.
"Hooters-ville"
And the know-nothing county agricultural agent that was always changing his mind. Hmmm, his name will come to me - but maybe it won't.

I could go on....
That show is a classic. That's what funny should be.
Sponge Bob is the same kind of humor. I love it.

Hootersville - I never thought of Lisa's mispronunciation til you pointed it out Ed. So funny.....now when hubby is saying I need to go to Hooter's, a new image will come to mind.

I do remember my dad being shocked but of course pleased at some of Lisa's nightgowns. Let's just say he didn't leave the couch for a snack or another beer when it was bedtime in the Douglas household.

Mr. Haney - Laura thinks he's a riot, selling them items they really need. That's not nice she says. LOL

I always liked Eb, bless his heart. He became like their son.

I was trying to explain all the crazy characters that will be showing up and when I got to Arnold the Pig, well, Laura's eyes opened wide. I said hey he even got on TV back then, within the show, and I could tell I had gone too far. Guess she needs to wait for that storyline.

You know, the Green Acres' characters really are bizarre when you think of it. No one seemed sane or normal - which is why we love that show, huh?

A Green Acres Marathon? Oh no Dennis, I can't tell Laura that. She'll never do a lick of chores or homework until it's over. LOL Something tells me she probably already saw the promos for it. She doesn't miss anything and likes commercials. I think sometimes we need to deprogram her. LOL

Good gosh, you all could tax even the greatest trivia buffs' minds. :)

Hank Kimball is who you're trying to think of, right?

Don't forget Lisa and the electricity dilemma -- "you can't plug in a two vit a six?"

To answer any nagging G.A. trivia questions you may have, check out iMDB's (internet movie database) page:
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0058808/

Be sure to click on 'more' links for even more viewer comments, etc.

There's a post from someone on this link asking who is your favorite Green Acres character. After some thought, I know mine - Arnold. Oink oink. LOL

Mary

PS - Mr. Haney's first name was Eustace!!! I don't think we ever heard his first name. LOL

Green Acres, and Petticoat Junction, along with one more show, comprised what was called the 'Hooterville Trilogy.'

Anybody else know the third show?
