He was from Nevada, I believe, where the state has a total of 20 exits it seems, and you can basically drive at 100 mph.
This is Nebraska, where you have a little more in the way of population density.
Thankfully he was caught before he reach the Omaha-Lincoln metro area. Yes, people around the Omaha area drive like maniacs, trying to get to their destinations as fast as possible, but this would just be plain dangerous, especially if it occurred around rush hour.

I have no idea, but several other motorist called the state patrol. I mean, their are actually law enforcement districts out there, and they will act.
Joshua21Young wrote:b) what did he want to accomplish by driving at such a high rate of speed?
Well, he will help decrease my state's budge shortfall by $200
He may have hit a deer. OUt in the Kearney area, the Platte River is nearby and deer are prevelant in this region. [/quote]

Sorry for all the questions, not only do I want to understand this fully I am also trying to help get a good discussion flowing here
.
A couple more q's with hopefully some a's shortly...
1) I can understand that, but wouldn't the police be endangering other people's lives as well if they were driving at 141 MPH?
2) Is hitting deer (or other things, etc.) while attempting to evade police a crime in NE?

Definetly. But it is a matter of public safety to protect lives.

No
Personally, if I saw someone doing this in the vicinity of me, I'd be pulling off to the shoulder or to an exit.

I can't imagine someone flying by me at 140 MPH :o That'd be one heck of a draft!

Thankfully I'm not the only person around here that thinks that way. I almost got into an accident on the way to work driving 370. Some lady pulled out in front of me and, even with anti-lock brakes, I came within a foot or two from hitting her van.

I'm sure it's fine being a German car. When I lived in Germany, cars would go near that speed for long periods of time when travelling between the major cities where their is no speed limit. Actually, I had my PT Cruiser up to 120 mph for quite a while going between Frankfurt and Bonn. It's not as bad as you think, because everybody is going that speed. Although I don't believe I would go that fast at night with all the wildlife roaming around.
