I know we're months away from the true ITCZ season, but there has been some noticible activity in the Atlantic basin this spring.

Dixie there is nothing unusual there with respect to the ITCZ.It flares up nicely and dies down considerably day after day.But the first tropical wave to exit africa will be not too far away in time however those first waves are for the most part weak to moderate ones for the exception of some bombs that will roll off africa from time to time.The prime time for the eastern atlantic is from late july to late september but in 2003 there was an exception when TD#2 formed in that region in june.
