Where do you think the highest risk cities are this year?

I was just wondering where the highest risk cities will be this year. I know we have to remember that it only takes one hurricane to hit and cause major damage. Look at Andrew in 1992. Very first storm of the season and it caused extreme damage. I wonder if we will see another quiet year in south Florida and here in southeast Louisiana. Remember, New Orleans has not had a direct hit from a hurricane since Betsy in 1965. I am Not saying this will be the year, but who knows. We have been extremely lucky and yes, the luck will run out someday for somebody.

With the QBO shifting to a westerlies i think there's a better than average chance that storms will track further west. This bring S. Florida into the mix.

I would have added the NE to that list because i just feel with the set up that looks to be taking place that we will have one go into the NE probably between NYC and Boston! So i would have added them. Other then that with the list you do have i am divided on S.FL and Mississippi???

*sniff, sniff*

We're always left out!

Anyway, I selected S. Florida - it's been out of the hurricane limelight for awhile and it's due for another one.

You should add an option for

"your city/region"

As it is...I never have been very good at long range stuff like this...but the drought in the SE makes me lean toward Florida through the Gulf Coast region below 30N.

I think the most vulnerable areas this year will be most of Florida ( Southern Florida and The Panhandle ) and Alabama/Mississippi....The Caribbean and The Gulf of Mexico will be more active i think this year then last year.

Which cities will be highest risks this season?

I voted for South Florida. But, remember several times a storm has crossed South Florida and ending up hitting us here in Louisiana, second. It did with Betsy in 1965 and with Andrew in 1992. And I think, at least 2 other hurricanes this century. Not one person voted for Louisiana. So, does everyone think that Louisiana has a very low chance?
