What's with the mil-ops "names"?

#1 Postby streetsoldier » Tue Apr 06, 2004 8:54 am

Why give our military operations such high-minded names as "Enduring Freedom", or, most recently, "Vigilant Resolve"?

We are hunting down the worst excuses for humanity that ever crawled the earth; therefore, I have a few suggestions of my own to offer before the teeming Storm2K masses...

Fallujah? "Operation Roach Motel"

Ayatollah al Sadr? "Operation D-Con"

Foreign fighter concentrations? "Operation 'Joe's Apartment'"

Osama bin Laden's capture/death? "Operation Lobotomy"

Anyone have their own pet "operations" to add?

Sheesh, I thought there'd be a lot more suggestions by now.

By the way, I was going to suggest "Operation RugHead roundup", but that would probably be out of bounds.

Let's pull our troops out, drop some bombs, and wipe the slate clean and call it ...

Operation Sanitary Engineering

Think most would agree that Operation Cheaper Gas might describe the long term plans. Operation George Wins might be appropriate for the timely capture or killing of Usama. A big, I mean really big, bomb dropped on Baghdad after our troops quickly evacuate might be called Operation Can-You-Hear-Me-Now? to other Arab and terrorist states and groups.

I think the extraction of Saddam from his hole in the ground should have been called Operation Hemorrhoidectomy.

Finally, Operation French Toast might be forthcoming if France finds themselves in need of US military support.

Naw, Steve...the extraction of Saddam would have been better named "Operation Enema".
