Condolezza Rice testimony=Did she performed great or not?

#1 Postby cycloneye » Thu Apr 08, 2004 6:56 am

It will be interesting to see that hearing this morning as she sits in front of the 9/11 commision and answers all the quuestions that will be thrown to her but she will be a great witness IMO and answer all of them with the truth about what really happened pre 9/11 and rebate all of what Richard Clarke said.

I think she did a great job in that hearing as she fielded some very tough questions. What are the opinions from the members about her performance?

I felt she conducted herself very well. There was some obvious partisanship going on, but she kept her composure and answered well.

She said it well right here:

After the September 11th attacks, our Nation faced hard choices. We could fight a narrow war against Al Qaeda and the Taliban or we could fight a broad war against a global menace. We could seek a narrow victory or we could work for a lasting peace and a better world. President Bush chose the bolder course.

He recognizes that the War on Terror is a broad war. Under his leadership, the United States and our allies are disrupting terrorist operations, cutting off their funding, and hunting down terrorists one-by-one. Their world is getting smaller. The terrorists have lost a home-base and training camps in Afghanistan. The Governments of Pakistan and Saudi Arabia now pursue them with energy and force.

We are confronting the nexus between terror and weapons of mass destruction. We are working to stop the spread of deadly weapons and prevent then from getting into the hands of terrorists, seizing dangerous materials in transit, where necessary. Because we acted in Iraq, Saddam Hussein will never again use weapons of mass destruction against his people or his neighbors. And we have convinced Libya to give up all its WMD-related programs and materials.

And as we attack the threat at its sources, we are also addressing its roots. Thanks to the bravery and skill of our men and women in uniform, we removed from power two of the world's most brutal regimes — sources of violence, and fear, and instability in the region. Today, along with many allies, we are helping the people of Iraq and Afghanistan to build free societies. And we are working with the people of the Middle East to spread the blessings of liberty and democracy as the alternatives to instability, hatred, and terror. This work is hard and dangerous, yet it is worthy of our effort and our sacrifice. The defeat of terror and the success of freedom in those nations will serve the interests of our Nation and inspire hope and encourage reform throughout the greater Middle East.

In the aftermath of September 11th, those were the right choices for America to make — the only choices that can ensure the safety of our Nation in the decades to come.

you raise a good point. it is unamerican to criticize those in power. most of the dems on the commision are probably bin laden family friends. why do you think they hate america so much?it's puzzling

because they blame america first. the time to have a commision is when the war is over. its unamerican to back stab our troops for political gain.
absolutely nothing this commission has done will help us win the war now, it is only bringing tears of joy to our enemies everywhere. 9/11 is over, time to win the war now

what are you even talking about?LOL!you crack me up my friend. I was thinking you would be all over the story about Jackie saying that JFK was bad in bed, but then I remembered that you somehow make JFK into a conservative icon through one of your mind-bending logical leaps. Too bad spinning isn't a competitive sport-you would dominate that field-the Tiger Woods of spin!Oh wait...

It is not UnAmerican to question anything in this nation, that is what our country is built on. BUT IT IS TOTALLY UNAMERICAN FOR POLITICIANS OR ANYONE ELSE TO USE OUR TROOPS AND THEIR BRAVE AND VALIANT COMRADES WHO HAVE BEEN LOST FOR ANY SORT OF POLITICAL GAME WHATSOEVER!!! That is what makes me so mad about what is going on right now!!! As said, in many aspects the shortsighted politicians are playing right into the hands of the COWARDS(who call themselves terrorists) instead of doing what is right for the good of this country and for that matter the world.

Kerry's votes in the senate would have cost thousands of lives, if enacted.

very true jim. there is a reason terrorists and terror states like north korea endorse john kerry, and say the same things ted kennedy does. they know that they wont defend america. their records in the senate tell us that. the 9/11 commission has been and is a victory for our enemies. nothing the commission will do or say will make us any safer or bring back the dead. it is just a way for our enemies to defeat us, the easy way
