I'm just a lousy peon, so my opinion doesn't matter and as far as you're concerned, I am lumped together with the rest of the people who just come here to disrupt the pace of the site (I'm not loyal to storm2k, remember?), but I think it's healthy to question the rules. Flagrant abuse of the rules is what shouldn't be tolerated. There is a difference between questioning authority and abuse of the rules. By questioning the rules and the people in charge, it's like offering a critique in order to make this site a better place. Just like people question the authority of the president for the same reasons--to make America as great as it can be. We should do the same at storm2k. Storm 2k is much like the weather boards of 1999 and 2000, that is cordial and I am not saying that those older dates means being civil is outdated. It is just that the passions of weather observation and forecasting began to be displayed, really with WWBB as the starter, in a more confontational manner and it caught on. I do believe it caters to a lesser rather than grander instinct but I am convinced that this horse out of the barn will not go back in. Storm 2k very well may, and very well should, keep a tighter reign of civility; I have become accoustomed to some battle royals and although never a provoker myself I do not shrink from being a responder if incited to be so.

Most members of WWBB respect each other, partially because debates are allowed to play out and if they are harsh then so be it. This was the case for Ert and me over at WWBB. As a result of us being involved in an intense debate with (gasp) namecalling, we got to know each other better and we now respect each other completely. This would not have happened in a sheltered and fake environment.

I don't think it is "fake" to present the environement of greater civility, I just think it is the exercise of a differing option than we are accustomed to over at WWBB, not necessarily better nor worse, just different.

Different, yes, but worse IMO. Just look at the controversy I have caused tonight by questioning this board's standards. For me its quite obvious that some people here take themselves way too seriously.

LOOK AT WHAT YOU JUST SAID AND REALLY REALLY THINK ABOUT IT AND THEN GET BACK WITH ME.

Okay, I've thought about it....and? I'm not sure I am following you on this one.

Those who run a message board in such a way that doesn't allow for honest disagreement but rather consists of powerhungry mods flaunting their authority over anyone who challenges their little world. BTW I am not necessarily speaking about you.

Something wrong with the PM feature HD? I for one havent noticed any problems with the rules that they do have here and most of the members here dont have any problems with them either. And Linda is quite frankly right about the rules here. Have a problem with them then do as i said and take it up in PM with a admin. This is THIER (Chad & Marshall)board not yours, Nor mine and nor is it Lindas or anyone elses but she is following the rules of the board which most who post here do like and enjoy because of those rules and i see nothing wrong with that or how Linda replied.

She takes it way overboard and takes herself and her power way to seriously....its pretty obvious.

BTW if no name calling is allowed I say you guys should do away with name calling of Bush and Kerry as well. Calling another poster "ugly" would never fly here, so why is it okay to call John Kerry or Hillary Clinton ugly?

It is my opinion that this is somewhat like going to stay with your parents. It's their house, their rules and while you're there, you abide by them. You may not like the rules, but you don't question them, nor do you try to change them. If you get tired of their rules, you can go back to your house. :)

Let Linda speak for herself, Harry. I see nothing wrong with the points I made. You're right, this is Chad and Marshall's board. BUT without the common people's input, HOW can this site be made any better?

Ct, what's your problem tonight, man? Like I said before, from reading your posts on wwbb, you seemed to be a respectable person. However, tonight you seem bent on stirring up trouble. If you have a problem with Linda, take it up with her in a PM or send MF or Chad a PM and discuss it with them. To keep on and on about it is getting a bit old. If you aren't happy with the rules of this board, then talk to Chad or Marshall about them. Linda can't change the rules. Her job is to enforce them.

Absolutely right. Marshall and Chad are open to suggestions. They say so and quite frankly it wouldn't make any sense if they didn't.

All aspects of the site, including the rules should be taken into consideration.

The site is great with the rules in place as they are HD. They worked fine before and they will work fine now tomorrow and so forth.

As to your comments about the input. Yeah, you are right, but when it comes to input about changing the rules to fit into ones agenda then that is unnacceptable. I highly doubt that input from flamers will get the rules changed.

If my enforcing the rules here offends you or anyone else I am in no way sorry for it. I was taught at a young age to abide by the rules whether I liked them or not.

As for your other comment, I will let the Admins handle that.

I don't see it that way at all. We are all responsible adults here (well, in 3 months I will be ). Children questioning parents is usually common rebellion in order to get what they want right away. That's not what I'm advocating at all. Like it or not, the regular people outnumber the mods and admins by a large margin, so their input is (or SHOULD) be taken seriously.

Unfortunately you are not in a position to judge whether or not my input should be considered so I would appreciate it if you would stop deleting my posts. Thanks so much.

The rules can easily change, as they were easily made up.

LOL....you are one to talk about agendas. Again, the rules are what they are, and I have followed them, and even though it makes you sooooo frustrated, I have every right to comment on them.

(This is the fifth time I have posted this. A certain power hungry mod seems to keep deleting it)

Linda thank you for demonstrating exactly what I have been saying about you and giving Storm2K a bad name. You have deleted several of my posts tonight including deleting this one 4 times. You have been outsmarted, face the facts....no need to be childish and delete posts. Why not let the other users decide what they think of our discussion? What exactly are you afraid of? Or does this just make you feel more powerful? As I said I have a record of all the posts and all the instances in which you deleted. I will be putting this on a page and linking to it in my profile here and at WWBB. Enjoy your night.

I can cite quite a few things here IMHO that is bannable and for that matter deletable. Your problem is your endless persuit of Lindaloo which is wrong and what you have done from the moment you got on here tonight. What your doing is called baiting which is alot worse IMO then even the name calling and she has every right to delete the post she has of yours and i am certain any other mod or admin here would do as well!

As one of the two Admins of this board I can say that the rules against name calling, flaming, and personal attacks of any nature are not tolerated on this board. This is the very premise that STORM2K was founded on and will not change! That's about as clear as I can make it. The Mods on this board enforce our rules. They do an outstanding job and have our full support. If you can post on the board and contribute under those rules then welcome. If you can't and insist on challenging the rules you'll be shown the door. If you think you can do a better job then start your own board.

This is a private board and therefore posting on this board is by invitation not a right. If anyone has a problem with the Moderation on the board, the proper way to address it is via PM to Chad or I. Any attempts to undermine the rules or staff of this board will result in immediate suspension of you account. I think that's pretty clear. :-)
