Trip to Puerto Rico

#1 Postby hurricanetrack » Sat Apr 10, 2004 9:05 pm

This message is for everyone, but aimed more so at folks who live in Puerto Rico:

I work with Sprint nationwide to promote hurricane awareness and they have asked me if there are any upcoming hurricane related seminars or conferences in P.R.

Sprint would like to send me to P.R. and speak to folks about hurricane awareness as well as the latest technology that is being used to monitor storms wirelessly.

So- if anyone knows of any pre-planned events already coming up within the next few weeks, let me know. I'd like to make a visit to P.R. and chat with local folks about hurricanes and how my group observes and studies them.

Thanks!

Mark

There was a rumor running around the NHC this past week that the organizers are looking at Puerto Rico for a location in 2006. I kind of doubt this'll happen, though, as it'll be too expensive for most of the U.S. exhibitors to attend it there, so attendance may be very low.

Puerto Rico is now building a new convenction center in miramar close to isla grande airport and it will be ready for use in 2006 so maybe that is the place to look at from them (IF) and a big if as you say Chris because of the transportation costs and other variables but hey anything is possible that they do that conference here. :)

Hello Mark!

In Puerto Rico we have a hurricane conference sponsored by NHC's local office, (The National Weather Service in SJ.), Every year in the month of May at the doors of next season. I think I can find you a place because I know the Sub Director of NWS San Juan Mr. Rafael Mojica. If you send me an e-mail with all the details and how to conctact you I will give all the information to him and he will contact you soon. Also I have friends on Univision PR Channel 11. They make a Hurricane week activity in Plaza las Americas mall and they'll maybe help you too. I need to know if the cost of the trip will be asumed by sprint of if we will have to asume any of those costs. Also if you come here It will be nice to introduce you to my hurricane fanclub "Puertorrican Cyclonic and Historic Society" Send me an e-mail to payasowincito@icqmail.com, please include your phone number and all the details.

Thank's

Cycloman.

Thanks, Luis. I will be working with Sprint to figure out the best time to come. It may be late July since our schedule is already tight around June 1- but at least it looks like it will happen.

I'll keep you all posted.
