what an unusual situation!? I guess try and not say to much about yourself. since she wants to know you better and she won't tell you antyhing about herself. Either stop talking to her...tell her to say smthg about herself and you'll tell her smthg or go as normal. But i'd do the first two options.

The reason you can't (or haven't) blocked this if you like the attention (so to speak) ... and you're very curious to find out the truth .. if you're gonna play along with this and not delete or block the email addy, start asking questions that pertain to the school, or wherever the person knows you from ...
Like stuff that should be easily recognizable, or even trick questions ... like say your school's nickname ... say like the Clemson Tigers or something ... you might wanna ask what was the team's name, or even come up with a made up one, and see if that person agrees or corrects the false name. Test the theory.

SF,, Good advice.. I plan on doing that
By the way.. some breaking news of sorts.. She gave me a nickname of hers.. She says her friends call her Devi..
I may give her a little test next time we chat to see if she knows anything such as the school or where I typically do my school work or silly things like that.
Silly questions like that can help me determine whether she is real or just someone jerking me around..
By the way.. Yes.. I must admit.. I do like the attention..and yes my journalistic tendencies do have me looking for the truth..

Should I just stop writing..? or should I keep pressing her until she finally tells me who she is..?
John, I'm going to speak to you like a Mother. You might not like what I'm going to say, but please hear me me out. You asked, and received good advice in this thread. The gist of what people told you was "Walk Away."
In turn, you said, "Maybe I will and maybe I won't."
I have a question for you.
Would you play with a lit candle or matches?
Becuase IMHO, that's what you're doing here. You think that you you might know who this person is, John, but in truth, you don't. Someone with a lot a lot of time on his (or her hands) could figure out from your posts here how to find you, send you an intriguing anonymous message, make arrangements to meet you when he or she had you sufficiently hooked, and then hurt you big-time. Scary stuff. Unfortunately, this type of thing goes on all of the time. And sadly, I'm not making this up, I'm currently doing a proposal for a book called "Keeping Your Kids Safe On the Internet" and I've run across several instances like the one I described. Very much like one you're describing, actually.
Anonymous e-mail and IM flirtations are fun, but they can have awful consequences. Have you checked the message headers? The Internet has millions upon millions of people, John and not all of them are honest and upright citizens. Some of them are out and out pervs. Or just jerks who get off thinking that they've tricked someone. Or they're for-real criminals. Or worse.
By continuing the correspondence, you're not doing much to protect yourself. Hey maybe your correspondent is really a secret admirer. But what if he/she isn't?
Walk away John. Or tell the person to meet you in the sunlight in a public place. Either one. The secret e-mail thing has to stop.
