Camel Spiders

#1 Postby j » Tue Apr 13, 2004 8:24 am

From someone stationed in Baghdad. He was recently bitten by
a camel spider which was hiding in his sleeping bag. I thought you'd like to seewhat a camel spider looks like. It'll give you a better idea of what our troops are dealing with. Enclosed is a picture of his friend holding up two spiders.

Warning: not for the squeamish! You may have Spider
Nightmares!

For some reason, your pic isn't showing up, J.

You gotta realize that the guy holding the spiders has his hand pretty close to the camera. You can see the heel of his palm and his shirt sleeve on the right side of the picture. So, they're still pretty big creatures, but not quite as big as that picture first leads you to believe

Here's the story from Snopes.

I've tried to post from two different locations, but it's not showing up either.

Must be spider repellent on the board.

If anyone wants to see it, they can click the Snopes link.

LOL! I know! :) But sometimes it's not to show that something is not true, it's just to provide more information about it and a little clarity. :)

Hey, Tim, if it wasn't Duck, I would have done it. I heard this story on the radio this morning. They are 5 inches big, which is still pretty sizable, but the email blows it up a bit much.

Maybe your picture was devoured by the close cousin of the camel spider, the dreaded posted image spider. Here is a picture of one lying in wait on an unsuspecting victim's speaker:
