I'm looking for a good website to download music...and yes i'll pay to download the songs. Ya'll have any good ones that I might use? Thanks :boog:

I've used Itunes quite a few times and it's a great website with great download times. Check it out.

I'm pretty sure KazaaLite doesn't have spyware. Kazaa does, but not KazaaLite.

I used to use Kazaa and that S L O W E D down my PC something fierce. Plus after the lawsuits, I didn't want to be bothered. BuyMusic.com has most songs for 99 cents each.

Kazaa virtually RUINED my other PC (before this one) since I didn't have spyware or adware blockers installed ... when I did install some stuff just before I switched over, between that damn WeatherBug exe and other applications, I had 37 SPYWARE APPLICATIONS ... 8 pop-up windows opening at the same time while trying to browse one site really, really sucked the life of surfing the web. Anyway, now the problem is all the UNWANTED BS EMAILS that I get every damn day.

I don't anything about KazaaLite, but lately, any CD's that I've bought, I've listened to at least clips from every song at the record store before even considering buying.

I had an awful lot of those types of e-mails, especially last week.

SF - does Weatherbug.exe have spyware? I have it on my PC too. I have Adaware which I run every so often I there's usually 30 files that needs to be "quarantined". If Weatherbug contains it, then it's OUTTA HERE! :lol:

Steph, delete Weatherbug. It hurts more then it helps. In my opinion, next to Gator (shudder), Weatherbug is the biggest PITA when it comes to spyware. But never mind the spyware, most of the observations were inaccurate anyway. :roll:

I've been Bugless for over a year and don't miss it one bit!

Not Kazaa Lite (K++); it is a "hacked" version with all unwanted spyware/adware/etc. removed, and other goodies to boot such as a device that boosts your "participation" (ability to search for more files) and another that supposedly helps to block IP addresses of the RIAA (I'm not worried about being sued because I do not share files).

Now as far as my view on downloading music illegally, I agree that it is wrong and a bad practice, but I still do it quite a bit. Why? Because I like to sample music before I go out and spend money on the CD. That usually means downloading an entire album and listening to it for a couple weeks (or in some cases longer), and if I truly enjoy it I will and do go to the store and buy it. If I don't like it, I will most likely either delete all the files or delete all but my favorite few songs. Not necessarily moral or fair, but I figure that in cases where the CD was not good enough to where I would've bought it anyway, there's no financial harm done to the artist if I download their select few decent decent songs.

I am strongly against using services such as iTunes and WalMart because the files they are selling are NOT CD-quality; not even close. They are 128kbps MP3's or WMA's that are essentially slightly less than cassette-tape quality. I feel that if you are paying $0.99 per song... around the equivalent of a CD ($12 for a 12-track album)... you should be getting the "real deal." Why would I spend my money on a sub-par copy when I get get a full-quality 320kbps file for free on Kazaa?

Notice the word "BUG"? I don't use that nor any other Spyware applications, and guess what, the only e-mails are from my dad's work, my brother, grandparents and my friend Emily. No annoying "Do you need a lower interest rate?" or "XXX Love -- Click Here" e-mails!

I had Gator a long time ago too and it was a PITA! It took an act of Congress to get the whole darn thing off of my PC!

Me too. I got rid of Gator about a year and a half ago and I'm STILL finding files related to it in my harddrive every now and then.

Perhaps it's time to reformat your hard drive for some of you folks having trouble. Keep in mind that while there are solutions to many bugs and viruses, the best thing to do is to start fresh every so often -- at least once or twice a year, if possible. If you have a copy of the version of Windows that came with your PC, and you have the proper tools to backup your data (be it CD-R's, multiple partitions, etc.), it is always nice to start over again where you know everything is working perfectly.

I'm a bit obsessive myself, and the fact that Windows XP comes with product activiation that makes it difficult to install multiple times within a short period of time ticks me off quite a bit. I bought a legal copy of WinXP Home Edition, but after a few unsuccessful attempts to reinstall because almighty Microsoft hadn't deemed the time interval long enough to make use of the product I bought, I simply downloaded a pirated WinXP Pro and haven't looked back since :lol:

Speaking of downloading music sites, most of them at school are currently blocked by the administrators so that the students wouldn't go through, but for some reason, they seem to bypass the firewalls.
