Italian hostage executed

#1 Postby Guest » Thu Apr 15, 2004 3:06 am

One of the 4 italian hostages has been killed last night.
The group of rebels sent a tape and a message to AlJazeera, that refused to show the tape because "too cruel". The message said that after pm Berlusconi speech "our withdrawing from iraq is not considered" they wanted to prove to be serious, and that they will kill the other three if italian troops should not be dismissed and pm express his apologises to the islamic people.

Well, those 4 are professionals that choose to be there for money, and although it's clear that nobody can bow to these bandits will, it hurts.

Our intelligence was working together with iranian authorities to try to free them, since that successfully worked for one brit and two italian secret agents few days ago. This time did not...
By the way, Iran has been approached by US as well, in a try to stop fightings in Najaf.

Osama Bin Laden delivered a tape where he say in case would european countries withdraw from iraq, no further actions from AlQaeda will be taken against them.
But no chance for US and Israel, that remain AlQaeda main targets.

I feel very sad, very powerless.

Anyone that believes Bin Laden will halt attacks in Europe needs to have their head examined. This is just an attepmt to black mail them. Once you've given in to blackmail there is no end.

As to Italy's loss, our prayers go out for his family and your nation!

Our hearts go out to all of the people who have made the ultimate sacrifice to rid the world of terror.

Sad news indeed. I thought of you paolo immediately upon hearing this and wondered how this felt to you?...what emotions ..anger?

Who do you blame for this?

I'm not trying to start anything..honestly..but I know how us americans feel when one of our own has been in this situation, and we (I'm generalizing) want revenge!

Those italians where there because they get 1000usd a day, it has been their choice and they knew the risks they were facing.
I'm sorry for them and their families, but can hardly consider them as heroes or victims. I feel just sad for the whole situation, for sure I was much more touched after Nassirya attack, I know our troops how good they are in peacekeeping, even if I strongly wanted not to send them there.

Actually Paolo, I do consider them heros because they took a HUGE RISK to go over there and paid the ultimate price. I am sorry to hear about the loss of one of your fellow countrymen as well.

It would be nice to pray for all iraquis families then, at the end it's for them they've been killed...

My prayers go out to the friends and family of the Italian hostage. He died fighting a just cause and will remembered for such. Thank you Italy for helping fight The War on Terror. It won't be forgotten.
