I started posting on some Xena boards waaaaay back when eGroups was around and I was in some Yahoo clubs with the trivia buffs. Then eGroups and Yahoo clubs merged and became Yahoo Groups, which was weird at first because of format changes and archiving. Now, I'm a member of a handful of screenwriting and entertainment-related groups, but I don't post much. I just like to have access so I can search for certain subjects and get the latest news and spoilers.
The Yahoo trivia groups broke up and split into smaller groups or got deleted/dissolved. We had a few get-togethers, but not everyone got along. Romances had blossomed during chat sessions and forum discussions. However, people found out when they met in person that not everyone was quite what they expected. Some people were "dating" more than one person. Some people were already involved in real life. Some people weren't even the actual people in the pictures they shared. Some didn't share the same feelings as the other (one wanted friendship; the other wanted romance). Jealousy, gossip, and heartbreak were unfortunate souvenirs of the GTG's and even for some of those who didn't get together. I had a couple of crushes myself, but nothing serious. Long-distance relationships? Nah...no thanks. Not my thing.
I don't post quite as much on the one trivia board of which I'm still a member. No one really does now except to share news of a birth, death, new bf/gf, hurricane evac notice (gee...who do you think that would be?

), or just an occasional "Hi...checking in. I'm still here."
Hi...checking in. And, yes, I'm still here.
