My first public Hurricane Prediction

#1 Postby FWBHurricane » Sat Apr 17, 2004 11:40 pm

Ok here it goes:

Mine is like Imo's except i put 14 named storms instead of 13.
14/7/3
I researched 5 years of hurricane activity and added them all up to find an average of 14/7/3. I think the Carribean will be alot more active this year than the last, making the probability for a hurricane to Strike Cuba, Jamaica, Pueto Rico....ect. to be high. Also, i think there is a big chance The Carribean side of Mexico will be hit, including the Bay of Campeche side. The Gulf Coastal states will proabably see an increase in activity this year...maybe atleast one Major in the GOM. I alo think most of the Major storms will be comming from Africa because right now the SST off the coast of africa is slowly reaching 85-86. By the time the season startes it might be already 91 degrees.

Hope yall like, if it isnt good than please tell me and i will make better forcasts. 8-)

Nothing wrong with your prediction Matthew. You did some research and reached some conclusions based on that research. As you continue you will learn about more and more things that influence the tropical weather that will help you make more precise predictions with more fact to back them up. good job.

BTW, My mom lives in Niceville.

Good forecast.....I would pick yours over mine any time (mine was 16/11/4) just because yours is lower and seems more reasonable...good job.

IS this true, the SSTs off Africa will be 91 by the time the season starts,if thats the case then we are going to see some serious canes developing out there.
Good forecast but I don't know if the SSTs will be that high in the beginning of the season.

Thanks everyone. Im not quite sure if its going to be that high im just saying the temps out there are getting close to 85 degrees and if it continues to grow that fast then its possible by June the temps could reach into the 90s.
