Sunnyday we've always had spirited debate! The unfortunate thing about religous and political debate is that people have very strong opinions and this tends to polarize the discussion. With this board tending to be right of center politically it can get quite lonely for a left of center leaning member. ;-) I think a lot of people here really like hearing the other side of the fence we just don't agree :-)

Weather53, thank you for your kind words. While our rules seem restrictive to some, we do try and apply those rules fairly to all. When the yelling and bashing get started listening and learning stop. We formed S2K to be a haven from that type of behavior and place for people to discuss almost any issue without fear of the flame reprisals. We knew S2K would not be for everyone but only hoped that there really was a need for this kind of board on the internet. With the board only 18 months old it seems there were others out there thinking the same thing.

Spirited debate is okay when it stops at spirited.

Thanks 53 for the kind words!

Sunnyday - When it becomes too spirited, sometimes it is best just to walk away. Politics and religion are always going be hot topics. I can honestly say that I've seen an improvement in the way these topics are discussed here. There are points and counter points given but NO BASHING and that's very important. As soon as bashing occurs, consideration and listening to the "other side's" point of view automatically gets shut off. There is no learning anymore, just alot of anger. I think that 99.9% of the members here "agree to disagree" and it's the .1% that are usually here just to push buttons and stir things up. They never last too long here anyway.
