OK, since I'm hearing more Courtney Love stories, why not start this thread?

:boared:

Courtney Love pleads not guilty to felony drug possession charges

BEVERLY HILLS, Calif. (AP) — Rocker Courtney Love pleaded not guilty Friday to felony charges that she illegally possessed prescription painkillers.

Superior Court Judge Elden Fox set a hearing for June 4, when a trial date could be set.

Love, 39, came to court in a black trench coat, black pants and gray top. She sat quietly and read a book before she was called before the judge.

Asked if she agreed to the plea, she said, "Yes."

Love has been more boisterous during past appearances, chatting with reporters and talking out of turn in court.

She is charged with two felony counts of possession of controlled substances — the painkillers hydrocodone and oxycodone. She could face up to three years and eight months in prison if convicted.

Love is the widow of grunge rocker Kurt Cobain and former lead singer of the rock band Hole. Her films include "The People vs. Larry Flynt" and "Man on the Moon."

Outside court, Love's lawyer, Michael Rosenstein, said he believes the charges will be dropped because Love had prescriptions for the pills.

"These are just prescription drugs, and we will be presenting evidence of prescriptions," he said.

Fox ruled on April 15 that there was probable cause to try Love on the charges after Deputy District Attorney Jeffrey Stodel called a police officer to testify.

Officer Douglas Trerise testified that he and two other officers went to Love's home on Oct. 2, 2003, after she called police. He said Love handed a small plastic bag of pills to one of the officers.

"She said it was her stash. She said it was Percocet and `I don't do that anymore and it's illegal,"' Trerise testified. Percocet is a painkiller.

Trerise said the baggie contained oxycodone and hydrocodone.

Earlier that night, Love was arrested by Los Angeles police after allegedly trying to break into the home of a former boyfriend.

In that case, she faces misdemeanor charges of disorderly conduct and being under the influence of a controlled substance. Those charges are being heard separately from the felony case.

Why not a double feature?

Mary Kate and Ashley Olsen, just turned 18, have been awarded their own star on the sidewalk in Hollywood. (Coppertop wants them both...)

L.A. Prosecutors Say Courtney Love Used Cocaine

LOS ANGELES, California (Reuters) - Rocker Courtney Love is negotiating a deal to resolve drug charges stemming from an October arrest in Los Angeles despite having tested positive at the time for cocaine use, prosecutors said on Monday.

Under the deal being contemplated by the 39-year-old former lead singer of Hole, charges would be dropped if Love completes a drug treatment program, a city prosecutor told reporters after a judge postponed Love's trial.

"It's a great idea for her because she can probably benefit from the program, and if she completes the program she won't have a conviction in the case," said Jerry Baik, an assistant supervising attorney with the Los Angeles City Attorney's Office.

"But if she fails to complete ... this program then she will be required to do 90 days in jail," Baik warned.

Love's attorney, Michael Rosenstein, requested the postponement because he is in another trial.

Rosenstein, who could not be reached Monday for comment, recently told Reuters that he was negotiating a plea deal and waiting for drug tests to come back.

Baik said the city recently got the results, and that Love tested positive for several drugs, including cocaine.

"One of the drugs that's important to us has been cocaine, and that came out positive," Baik said, adding that the city is prepared to prove its case should the plea deal fall through.

Los Angeles Superior Court Judge Patricia Schnegg ordered the parties back on May 25 to cement the deal or start trial.

"No more delays," Schnegg warned. "This case has gone just way too long."

During a recent hearing, officers testified that they arrested Love after she broke windows at her boyfriend's house. They said she acted like she was stoned, and told officers she was on "Hillbilly Heroin," a euphemism for the prescription painkiller OxyContin.

Love, the widow of grunge rocker Kurt Cobain, also faces charges of illegal possession of prescription painkillers in a separate case in Beverly Hills. And in March, she was arrested in New York after throwing a microphone stand into a nightclub audience and hitting a man on the head.

Courtney Love Pleads Innocent to Assault

NEW YORK (AP) - Rocker Courtney Love pleaded innocent on Thursday to charges of assault and reckless endangerment for allegedly hitting a fan in the head with a microphone stand in March.

After the arraignment, she delivered a rambling speech in a women's bathroom about the ex-boyfriend whose Los Angeles home she was accused of breaking into last year.

Love was in court Thursday because she allegedly hit Gregory Burgett with the stand as she performed at a club on March 18, a few hours after a bizarre appearance on David Letterman's "Late Show" in which she lifted her shirt to expose her breasts at least six times.

She was arrested after Burgett, 24, of London, Ky., needed three staples in his head and said he wanted to press charges, police and witnesses said.

Love arrived nearly two hours late for Thursday's arraignment. After the plea, Judge Kathryn Freed released Love on her own recognizance; the case was adjourned until June 28.

Her attorney, Scott Tulman, said the length of time until the next hearing could allow Love's case to be resolved out of court.

"We're discussing this with the (district attorney's) office and are hopeful that we can resolve this amicably," he said.

A swarm of reporters then followed Love into a restroom, where she launched into a stream-of-consciousness harangue about ex-boyfriend Jim Barber that also touched on actor Russell Crowe, her daughter, Frances Bean Cobain, and her late husband Kurt Cobain's Nirvana bandmates, Dave Grohl and Krist Novoselic.

"You do not sleep with married men," Love said during the impromptu news conference in the women's bathroom at Manhattan Criminal Court.

Love, 39, filed a lawsuit Dec. 15, 2000, against Lesley Barber, the former wife of Jim Barber, an executive at Geffen Records. The suit was later settled.

The lawsuit charged that Lesley Barber stalked her, threatened to burn her house down and ran over Love's foot.

Meanwhile, Love faces misdemeanor charges in Los Angeles of being under the influence of a controlled substance and disorderly conduct after being arrested for allegedly trying to break into Jim Barber's home on Oct. 2.

Love, whose husband killed himself in their Seattle home in 1994, gained independent fame with her band Hole and her role in the film "The People vs. Larry Flynt." Love has admitted using heroin in the past but has said she has cleaned up her act.

She recently released a solo album, "America's Sweetheart."

Hey Stooge - I'm a fan of CL's late husband but not her. I find these never-ending out of countrol stories about CL tiring. She is just one of those celebs that will have to hit rock bottom to ever really comprehend the damage she is doing not only to herself, but more importantly her daughter! To be honest, I don't even read the latest story about CL. Now if she holds a press conference and admits she's out of control and will check into a rehab facility, then we're getting somewhere. Until then, her stories just do not me interest anymore. Let me know if she ever holds that press conference!

She's somewhat like the Shannen Doherty of the rock world right now. CL certainly isn't a sweetheart, by any stretch of the means.

Courtney Love Sued by L.A. Travel Agency

By Daisy Nguyen - Associated Press

Rocker Courtney Love was sued Thursday by a travel agency that claims she ordered nearly $50,000 in airline tickets, but wouldn't pay.

The lawsuit says Love asked the company to book tickets, hotel reservations and other travel arrangements for herself, her family, agents and staff last year. She authorized payment to her credit card, but later withdrew authorization and sent checks, the lawsuit alleges.

One check was connected to a closed bank account and she allegedly canceled a second.

The firm, New Act Travel, in Los Angeles, seeks money for the tickets as well as service and bank charges, damages, court fees and $1,000 in excess baggage charges.

Calls to the company's attorney, Stephen Martin, were not immediately returned.

Howard Weitzman, a lawyer representing Love on civil and criminal cases, said he was unaware of the lawsuit and declined to comment.

Also Thursday, Love's trial on felony charges for illegal possession of painkillers was postponed to Nov. 3.

In July, she was sentenced to 18 months in a drug rehabilitation program after pleading guilty to a misdemeanor charge of being under the influence of a controlled substance. In New York City, she faces charges for allegedly striking a fan with a microphone stand at a club in March.

Love, the widow of Nirvana singer Kurt Cobain, was formerly the lead singer of the band Hole. She had to delay a concert tour with her new band this year because of her legal problems.

Oh man, here we go again. Only good thing is all of this is her appearance. Her hair is shorter, she was wearing a respectable black dress in the photo I saw, which didn't make her look like she was getting ready to go on stage.

I still have to wonder if this deviant behavior is b/c Courtney had something to do with Kurt's death. I know it's been documented as a suicide but there's a part of me that will always wonder if he was murdered. I don't buy into this theory 100% but someone out there has to admit it is possible. His child wasn't even one year old yet! Why would he check out so soon? Doesn't make sense.
