6 injured in GA TOR

Sounds like that came from the same cell that prompted the warning below...Was wonderring why the NWS didnt issue a tornado warning for that storm since law enforcement reported a possible tornado--the warning was actually for Terrel co which i believe is really close to randolph and clay counties.

That is the strangest warning I have ever seen! It is a severe thunderstorm warning with the wording "possible tornado" being detected. Weird indeed!

That is ignorant on the side of the National Weather Service. If they take the time to indicate possible tornado then they should issue a tornado warning.

While not uncommon to see the generic "any severe thunderstorm is capable of producing a tornado" blah-blah, I have NEVER observed a specific TOR reference in a SVR...not once.

In my opinion, this is a terribly written and errant SVR.

BY DEFINITION...if a funnel cloud or a tornado is observed or if there is a signature on Radar...a TOR is issued. Not a SVR with a "oh by the way..." they issue a Tornado Warning.

I find no TORs issued for this event and if that is indeed the case, their office screwed up in a major-league big time way.

That is so stupid...they should have issued one...I saw the warning on my computer, that should have been a tornado warning....STUPID NWS

I agree~Some NOAA radios like the one i have lets u program out certain warnings and severe thunderstorm is one of the ones you can program out so the alarm doesnt go off. Also, some radio stations will activate the EAS for tornado warnings but not severe thunderstorm warnings. So sounds like some people may not have even gotten the warning at all.

Yeah that is what I was just thinking...that may of been why the 6 people got injured in the first place because they did not receive a TRN-Warning.....Just a bad call all around on the NWS Part

I watched that storm and it was an early morning event. I was screaming and kicking because the cell had a Mesocyclone detected with 70 + kts of GATE to GATE shear! I must say Tallahasee "dropped the ball" on that call.

Well im not a met but I have to agree that any severe thunderstorm with a "possible tornado" merits a tornado warning. i know the NWS office in my area would have issued a tornado warning..as they do for any thunderstorm with strong rotation or other tornadic signs.

Yes a very bad call on the weather services part. I mean if you're going to issue a tornado warning for a radar indicated tornado, why the hell wouldn't you is law enforcement was reporting one! Ridiculous in my opinion.
