Germans arrest Sasser worm suspect
Rotenburg, , May. 8 (UPI) -- German authorities have arrested a teenager suspected of creating the Internet Sasser worm that infected millions of computers, Sky News reported Saturday.
The programmer, an unidentified 18-year-old male from the northern state of Lower Saxony, was detained Friday, a police spokesman said.
The Sasser worm struck May 1 and may have affected as many as 18 million computers worldwide in less than a week.
Among groups affected by Sasser were the European Commission, the postal service in Taiwan, Finnish banks, Australian rail traffic control, and the Spanish national courtroom.
The outbreak was the third major Internet infection this year after Mydoom.A in January and Bagle.B in February
