I hate to say this= No more waiting let's throw MOABS
I think the US is at a point that the Iraq situation must be resolved sooner rather than later and not continue to play into those who hate the US.I say throw little nukes or the 21,000 pound mother of all bombs into NAJAF where that devil AL SADR is hiding and I know that the US will be accused as abusers of the people of Iraq or the US will be accused of being the haters of ISLAM,and the UN will say to the US stop it and pass a resolution of commendation towards the US but IMO we have to do something drastic to terminate what is happening in Iraq but I know it will be a no go what I am suggesting however I am throwing it out there for all of you to comment about if my thinking is realistic or not.

Don't Want
to use nukes even small ones because of radiation danger to our forces. Part of the problem is though poor planning and estimation on our part which is a leadership failure.

About what you bring about the radiation affecting the US troops well if that happens they will prepare for that but again I know it wont happen however the US can't continue to wait and I see politics guiding the iraq policy right now as we are less than 6 months till the elections.

Well then PULL OUR TROOPS and drop the bomb. It is that simple.

We need to do something "drastic" NOW!!!
This is getting completely out of control now.
Enough is enough---let the "games" begin.
Our President is on television apologizing for our prisoner abuse and they are beheading one of our own and rubbing our nose in it. There's something wrong with this picture!!!
I am really upset right now. When and how is all of this going to end???

My only problem is simply that I don't know just how many nukes it would take (if we did that) and how few it would take so that the radiation doesn't travel too far in the atmosphere into neighboring countries.
Forgive my ignorance, but I've heard too many differing opinions and views on that to know what's true and what's fiction.

I'm torn...part of me wants to just blow up the whole stinking country!

It is such a delicate situation. Bush is damned if he does and damned if he doesn't. There is so much riding on his decision. Many, many lives...

If we REALLY, REALLY want to "hit 'em where it hurts", all we'd have to do is to level every Islamic "holy site", starting with the Ka'aba (Mecca) and the Dome of the Rock (Jerusalem), then to the Ali Mosque (Iraq), Mazar-i-Sharif (Afghanistan), etc. One MOAB apiece would do it.
Eliminate their "raison d'etre"...reason for being, the very underpinnings without which there IS no Islam. Then, mop up.

Agree Bill on all of what you said but then if that happens the UN will turn against the US but we know how the UN works so IMO I dont care what they say if the US throw bombs to all the mosques.
Bonnie your words were right on the money.

If Paris gives us any hell, then I say wipe them off of the map as well. And if the UN gives us any problems, intern their diplomats on espianoge (which they are probably comitting anyways). That being said, nothing will get passed, Britain will likely veto it, unless they ar ebarred from voting by Paris

There is justification for collateral damage on thousands to change the course for tens of thousands.
And if we are worried about who will hate us for such an act...well, they hate us regardless.
And if there wasn't a precedent for considering a stronger military response, then what helped bring WWII to a close?
This option is considered as a means to an end that is not self-serving, but predicates a major change in the behavior and order in the world.
But, as was stated elsewhere, such an action will come to pass and the need for a new order will surely as well.
I do not know or can not predict when that time will occur, but seems from our perspective to be better served on our terms than on someone else's.

Agree Steve with all of what you said. The US MUST respond in a more decisive way and if that means throwing little nukes or the MOAB well do it even if a big outrage comes from the UN but what outrage has commed from the arabs especially AL-JAZZERA
to what happened to that American citizen.I haven't seen any outrage from them at all.
