He has had 12 years to disarm under resolutions from 1991 until the present. It is his own fault by not following the UN laws.
When we go in there and find these WMD and other weapons he claims not to have, the "rest of the world" will feel like a bunch of complete idiots. The first mistake was Sept. 11th, the second mistake is Hussein funding and harboring terrorists. The last mistake is him not disarming and playing his cat and mouse games with the United States. "The rest of the world" fell into his lies and traps. But we are smarter than that.
After 12 years of deceit by Saddam Hussein it is now time for the United States to relieve him of his duties.

Hmmm... if I remember correctly, we went in 12 years ago to keep Iraq out of Kuwait. We did not go in to remove Saddam from power. But went to the UN Security Council to adopt resolutions for him to rid himself of WMD. He finally agreed to let weapons inspectors into the country by order of the UN. He threatened them and ran them out of there. When all that happened Clinton was too busy with his affairs at home to enforce the issues. Had we went in 12 years ago to take out his regime then yes we would have taken care of him then. Can't change the past, but we can eliminate him in 48 hours!

I wouldnt say Clinton wouldnt take care of business at the time of his presidency. Yes he tried a stab at Bin Laden as well but didnt succeed. Our objective 12 years ago was liberation of Kuwait and make everyone happy with their little oil fields in the deserts. I was there, I know. Everyone thinks we should have killed him then, but who knows where that would have us today anyhow. Again that wasnt our plan in 91 and even if he defies this time, he'll always be around and a threat as long as he is alive.

A Viet Vet On Board...
It was pitch black. No moon.
I was lying on my stomach in the filthy sand, thinking to myself,
"Why in the hell would any of those bullets buzzing just over my head ever have my name on it? After all, I'm just a school teacher from Illinois who came over here to support my country and the people who live there."
I hated that people back home were angry. Not just at the war. But angry at me for being part of it. As a draftee, I was just doing what was asked.
So on this day, 33 years later, you can count on this Vietnam Vet (1970) to support all our troops. I have never forgotten the coldness of my own return after watching some around me never make it back.
Every last one of those troops tonight need to know of our support.
Thanks for this post. It means a lot, even to me!

Very Good Post
I commend the post Derek, I was thinking this the other day as well. Whatever your opinion about Bush, put it aside!! We are now committed, which I believe is the right move if we want to live in a free society and one without fear. I don't want to pass this mess to my kids/grandkids. Do it now!! Any other protest against this move (like San Fran threatening to shut down) is treason, and should be punishable as such. The troops are made up mostly of the sons and daughters of the working class. How dare these spoiled brats in Hollywood put down their own people, the very one's who put money in their pockets!! We've carried them for years. And guess what; they used to encourage our troops - now they trash them. Shame on you dixie chicks!! Okay....I will calm down
Pass the Valium please!! Cheers!! UNITED WE STAND!!

ok, I have to put in my 2 cents :? we can sit here and argue over what is right and wrong until we are blue in the face...is it going to do any of us any good? Probably not! Right now, since we don't really have any control of what is about to happen, we should all unite and comfort each other instead of arguing. Right now, whether we like it or not, I don't believe that we have any control over what is going to happen. I know we have our freedom of speach, and we all have our own opinion...but let's not let that come between us...Let us stand together, and pray that our troops come home safely!
GOD BLESS AMERICA!

Derek THANK YOU!!! GREAT POST!!!!
MSCOAST!!! EXACTLY RIGHT!!! Do not try to change that over which you have no control. If the object of that which you can not control is good, then SUPPORT IT!! If it is evil, then SUPPORT ITS DEMISE!!
I hate war as much and probably more than the next person, but we are in a situation where we have no other alternative!!
I AM IN FULL SUPPORT OF OUR TROOPS AND OUR LEADERS!!! MAY GOD PROTECT THEM ALL!! MAY EVERYONE OF OUR TROOPS COME HOME SOON AND SAFELY!!!

Something you all seem to have missed is that, in 1991 a CEASE-FIRE was agreed upon, with the provision that Saddam disarm within 45 days (he didn't, of course); the authorization for the UN-backed war was NEVER rescinded, which means...yep!...we ARE finishing up what we didn't in '91, ACCORDING TO UN RESOLUTIONS STILL IN EFFECT.
Secretary General Kofi Annen should check the records more carefully before inserting his foot...ditto Russia, Germany, France, etc.
My support is, therefore, a "given"...period.

Exactly my sentiments as I have stressed all across these boards. So what if I am against war? I think we all are....life goes on without and we need to keep things under control. Bravo MS, I echoed your thoughts earlier as well just like you have. No one is an expert here...they simply respond to what they hear...some just exaggerate a little better than others it seems.
Bill, I've been trying to preach this to others here on the boards, that this war is in fact something we havent ended nor finished and based on the past. Today is today, but apparently we let him go for another 12 years and now is the time to go get him? I think it should have been done years ago or the 1st time, but again we had different objectives and we succeeded them all. And we will again.

AZSKYMAN.....your post brought tears to my eyes.....
As a "child of the sixties" I remember too well the return of our troops. Two brothers, a brother-in-law, and many friends DID come back.....4 good friends did not. The poor attitude of the general public was difficult to understand.
Several years ago, the area veterans mounted one of those huge "Hewey" helicoptors that was used in Vietnam in a little local park. Every year, around Dec. 1, a good friend and I sneak over and hang a huge wreath with a red, white, and blue bow.....and the words "We Have Not Forgotten" from the runners. No one knows who does this......it is interesting to hear the positive comments! My plan is to put one up in a few days saying "Support Our Troops".
What is......is. Now, more than ever, our people who are willing to lay down their very lives for our country need to know we are with them!.......p

EXACTLY streetsoldier....and every attempt since then to inspect, to negotiate, to postpone, were diplomatic attempts. How is it, that those against going to War now, will look you right in the eye and say Diplomacy has not been given a chance??

Great points, streetsoldier. The troops have my full support. Let's get the job done!
