How many phamtom system will the models spin up this season?

#1 Postby MGC » Sat May 15, 2004 12:28 pm

As Jason posted earlier, the UK Met has already started spinning up tropical cyclones. This only makes me wonder as to the accuracy of model cyclogenisis. To me they are like giving a 1000 monkeys a typewriter as one of them will produce a readable sentence (Ha, many of you are thinking this is a classic example right now). Do any of you fellow poster know of any accuracy data for the models?..............MGC

All models have their problems. It's a little too early to be bashing them this early . I am closely watching how the EPAC situation will turn out..that will give us one of our first clues. All model forecasts should be taken with a grain of salt.
