i think the dad is rather disgusting, using his sons death to bash bush. as far as the son, if the military did hold him, all i can say its too bad they didnt find a reason to keep him. in that case he would be alive today

Please don't feel that the dad is disgusting. He is suffering more than anybody can understand, and whatever he says or does is understandable considering the awful nightmare he is living. In addition, he has a right to say whatever he feels.

I am shocked to agree with Sunnyday... , but the dad deserves a pass on this. Not only was his son killed, but in the most heinous way and on the internet for all to see. He deserves a pass.

I can answer the russian part. I know many Chechen rebels have infiltrated the Iraqi border alongside other al qaeda-like groups. The people from chechnya are a part of Russia and Muslims.

Thanks Steph, I was hoping what I said was perceived correctly. I still think it's a horrible strategy, just a lot of things don't add up. Like when he was picked up by the Iraqis in late March, he had the usual items like a passport, a laptop, money, etc. but he also had a copy of the Koran and he's Jewish. He also had something that the authorities have called "anti-Semitic" literature. That's totally out of character for Nick, a practicing, religious Jew. This hasn't been determined yet but there are reports saying that the material is either in Farsi (the Iranian language) or Arabic. Again, I'm NOT accusing anyone of anything.

sunnyday, I feel horrible for Nick's family. I cannot even imagine what they're going through and I agree it's an awful nightmare. However, I do not understand how his dad can blame Bush and Rumsfeld over the sicko scum terrorists who actually killed their son.

Great point, yeah I mean what the heck would it mean if it were russian other than that. Unless we are pulling out the conspiracy theory and the whole white plastic chair incident. what a laugh.
