OV, Lakes, MW, Plains under the gun today!

#1 Postby Guest » Mon May 17, 2004 2:17 pm

SPC has alot of these areas from the northern OH valley wsw over into the central plains in slight risk for severe weather today. Already have a couple couple of severe thunderstorm watch boxes in MI, N.OH and N.IN.

I expect thing will pick up shortly in the central plains especially from eastern CO into all of KS and into MO and IA. These areas especially in KS have the best chance of severe storms becoming tornadic. But for the most part the main threat is Large hail and Damaging winds.

Check back in for more info as the day wears on.

Numerous warnings out for severe tstms in my area this afternoon. Just had a heavy, but not severe, storm (heavy rain) roll through.

We got CLOCKED last night shortly after 6:30pm local time here in Florence. We had high winds, VERY heavy rain, and vivid lightning. This was from a severe thunderstorm whose trailing edge was right over me as I traveled eastbound on SR 18 about half a block from home! The storm damaged some of the inventory of one local gardening store which is where I took cover as the storm hit!
