The jerk. He should be locked up. It's people like this that do the most damage and cost the rest of us too much money

Unfortunately, this doesn't surprise me at all!!! I HOPE THEY LOCK HIS ARSE UP!!!! :grr: :grr: :grr: :grr:

53% of the people in the Houston area drive without insurance. When my daughter was involved in a wreck several years ago the man was driving suspended, with no insurance, etc. Needless to say he went to jail from the scene. Past that we were never called to court on that so I have no idea what happened-he may have been deported. the wreck before MY last one(that totalled my car) the lady that turned in front of me didn't have insurance. She however is not getting off scott free. She is paying off my deductible at $20/month, etc.

Yeah it is common alright...BTW where'd you find the stat about those driving w/o insurance in Houston? Could you find me a link that has the same info for other metro areas? That would help if I could know that...I totally agree with you he needs locked up and the key should be thrown away for a good long time!

I was surprised to see all the auto insurance ads on TV on the back of the phone books here in Hou/Galv. Then someone told me that they're a lot stricter down here about people who don't have it. Good thing. In KY, far too many people don't have car insurance and they don't have the yearly inspections and so forth like we have down here. I knew people who only paid their insurance for one month (so they'd have proof of insurance when they got their registration). Then they'd let it lapse and go a whole year without.

Some people think the laws are too strict down here in TX. I'm glad they're the way they are. :)

Jeremy, I have no idea if there is a site with that. It is somewhat general knowledge amoung the insurance community and to those of us that have had to deal with it all too often.

Duckie, I used to think things were way too strict here too, but now I am glad they are. Unfortunately, there are many that do the one month thing. In fact we had experience with that a few years ago too when our son was hit and the guy gave all the required info. Come to find out he lied to even get his insurance which was cancelled after one month.

Jeremy, you ought to add another "0" after that last number.

Have you thought about putting one of those flags on your chair?

When a person cancels his insurance in Pennsylvania, the Ins. Co. has to report it to the state dept of motor vehicles. It's a little slow, but it does catch up to you. I changed insurance companies once, and about a month later, I got a letter from the DMV. I reported the new info and everything was fine.

Good luck Jeremy...on the deposition and with recovery on your claim.

It's got to be tough to feel "lucky" right now, but after looking at the pictures and thinking of what might have been, you really are.

Keep us posted...

Now I know what you were referring to in the break thread. Another reason not to spread yourself too thin Jeremy. Good luck with the deposition.
