Where's the "Extreme Makeover: Home Edition" team when you need them?

Two Children, 12 Dogs Seized

PLANO, Texas (KXAS TV) -- Plano police investigating a possible dog bite stumbled across something much more at a Plano home Saturday.

Officers removed two children and 15 dogs, at least 12 of which were pit bulls, from a house in the 1900 block of Williamsburg that was reportedly uninhabitable.

According to officials, there was no electricity in the house and the floors were covered with animal feces.

Police said they responded to the residence after neighbors called to report that a child was possibly injured in a fight between at least two dogs inside the home.

Neighbor Shannon Palmer said what police found during their investigation did not surprise her because she had heard dogs whining constantly for the past two days.

"So, when I drove up today and [police were] here, in a way it didn't surprise me because of the whining that I heard," Palmer said.

A young girl from the neighborhood implied that she had witnessed some of the dogs roaming the neighborhood and fighting.

"To see them hurting each other and killing each other, and trying to hurt people, it's just not right" Anais Nevarez said. "And I'm glad they took the dogs to a better place."

While details were sketchy, police said they would likely press child neglect charges against the children's parent or parents.

They also said other charges could be pending.
