Does anyone know how one can adopt a soldier that is in the armed forces now in the Middle East? I remember doing this during Desert Storm and my office ask me if I could find out more information so we can do it here at work.

Thanks,
Patricia

Ticka.... I recently organized a "soldier drive" which involves elementary children. We set up a "base camp" and each child brought in something to send to the troops. It was their way of saying thank you for defending our country. Some children brought in playing cards and candy. Our local recruiting office and city councilman picked up our "gifts" and sent them to our troops.

We received letters back from those soldiers. One in particular really touched me. The soldier stated in his letter how much their gifts meant to them and makes them realize just what they are over there fighting for. In closing he said "God Bless you children of the United States of America for we are here to be sure your futures stay bright." (a pride cry).

You don't have to apologize Bonnie - you were just trying to help. I'll wait for Jacki to check with her boyfriend.

God Bless You.

So glad to hear that news JQ. Children have the biggest hearts and are very concerned about our soldiers.

Yeh...i think it was an earlier group of soldiers, but sadly one of them died and when they came back to visit the students it was pretty emotional, but they couldn't express how much they appreciated the kids' help :)
