Torrential rains has drenched most of Puerto Rico

Flooding events,mudslides,people relocated to shelters those are a few effects from 5 days of heavy rains in most of Puerto Rico.Data from the NWS office shows that between 4-10 inches has fallen with isolated amounts of 14 inches in the nortbinterior part of the island.And today will be another wet day in Puerto Rico so more flooding is expected as the grounds are oversaturated.An upper trough combined with a jet stream and an old frontal boundary are the trigger.

I am fine and dry so no problems to me.

Well at least during the past 6 hours no considerable rain has fallen in the island but with the afternoon heating soon that will change but hopefully the coverage of the heavy rains is much less than in the past 5 days.

Is'nt this suppose to be the dry season for P.R.

You have had 2 pretty good rain events is tne last 2 months or so.

The dry months for Puerto Rico are from january to march.May is the second most rainy month after october which is our most rainy month.September is the third followed by august.

Looks to stay unsettled over PR through the weekend as upper level trough lingers to the north of the islands causing clouds, showers, and t-storms. Precipitable water nearly 2 inches leading to locally heavy rains . Steering flow generally out of the east so showers and thunderstorms should track east to west each afternoon. Clouds should win out over sun as well.

This morning we woke up to more showers at San Juan and at the eastern half of the island where no more rain is needed due to oversaturation.No good news for the weekend as the upper trough will linger around the area combined with the jet stream will make the weekend as a wet one.

This afternoon really it is comming down hard in many places but hopefully nothing tragic happens.Already many roads haved been flooded this afternoon and some mudslides haved occured.This event is similar to a tropical depression or a tropical storm but without wind.

I am one of the few lucky people here in Puerto Rico because San Juan has not picked a deluge.Here so far over 3 inches haved felled in 6 days but in the mountains of interior PR is were really the action is in terms of rainfall.I will recopilate all the data and when the rain event is over I will post all the totals from the highest to the more less totals.

Well the latest from here is not good at all as the most important area of rain and thunderstorms is getting closer and closer to the island and after 18 inches of rain that haved fallen in 2 weeks if this area gets in in full force I fear massive floodings as the grounds are oversaturated.And to complicate things a tropical wave is moving into the eastern caribbean and that will add more fuel to the fire as more rains will fall with the interaction between wave and trough.

it looks like right now St Croix is really getting it and it's on its way to you.This cannot be good for PR.
Most of it is mised us.

MIA already MAY is the most wettest month in Puerto Rico in over 50 years and consider that may is the second most rainy month after october.An average of 8 inches fall in may but so far an average of 12 inches with isolated data of 18 inches haved fallen so far in this month.

If this has been the wettest month in 50 years & there is much more on the way, this could be the wettest in history by the time this is all set & done.

A flash flood watch has been posted for the eastern third part of the Island.No flash flood warnings yet today but I think that if the rains continue I can't discount warnings for certain areas.

Rain falling where it's not needed:

1 - Puerto Rico has received lots of rain, and they still will receive more.

2 - Rain almost ruined the marriage between "El Príncipe de Asturias" and Doña Letizia, in Spain.

Rain not falling where is needed:

1 - Florida has had one of the dries Mays in history.
