Brian, there is no way your room is going to keep you safe from 300 mph winds . Our basement doesn't really constitute as a basement... If there was anything in the area...I think we are doomed.


Anything larger than F3, you either have to be

1) Underground
2) In a reinforced room with concrete and steel beams (much like you see in bank vaults, and some houses in tornado alley) to be able to ride out a tornado above ground ...

As for more bad news, latest analyses show the region in the PDS watches going up like a cherry bomb, as MUCAPE are now exceeding 4000 j/kg ... very volatile situation ...
