#1 Postby wx247 » Wed Mar 19, 2003 12:49 pm

CBS's Jim Axelrod is reporting that 15 Iraqi soldiers have recently surrendered to U.S. troops, this according to the U.S. military. It was not clear where they gave up or to whom.

More info. as it becomes available...

Wow - is it deja vu all over again. As its already been stated - the war will be fought with the Royal Guard Sadamn has surronding him. Someone correct me if I used the wrong name.

IMO Sadamn is going to surround himself with civilians - use them as his shield till the end.

Chad thanks for keeping us updated. I have no tv or radio access here at work and only internet - but I have to work - LOL.

FOX NEWS is reporting that these troops surrendered at the Kuwaiti border.

Capt. Darren Theriault of the headquarters company of the 1st Brigade, 3rd Infantry Division told journalists with the unit that the Iraqis had been turned over to Kuwaiti custody.

Awesome news, keep 'em coming. I remember when the older George Bush gave his State of the Union address following the Gulf War. When he spoke of the Iraqi soldiers surrendering, on their knees thanking our troops for saving them, he had to pause and collect himself. I never had more respect for him than I did at that moment.

i would like to point out though that most likely the ones surrendering today were conscripts and from the often oppressed shiite majority of iraq.

they had nothing to fight for and much to gain by surrendering.

the only problem that the US may encounter is in baghdad itself when the fighting goes house to house.

I remember that too.. So sad... Shows that we are one of the Superior countries that we would even allow them to surrender... There are many that would not..
