Well, according to TWC the southern part of the Caribbean Sea is favorable for development at this moment, you can see that in the link above. Tropical Waves are now passing over this spot and we know that is one of the favorite places for development around this time of the year.

It's May. There are no favored areas for development in May. You sure you don't have your calendar one month ahead? :?:

Your right, there are no favored areas for development in MAY, however that's not to say development can't occur UNDER THE RIGHT SET OF CIRCUMSTANCES. And BTW, there really isn't any need for the excess attiude.

Sandy, Usually the Gulf of Mexico is FIRST to become favorable for development in June. Then as the season wares on, areas further south and east become increasingly favorable for development also. Based on climatology

Tropical Cyclones can form where conditions are suitable for development, doesn't matter what month. For example, in 1952 we had a tropical storm that crossed south Florida in the month of February, why it formed? Simply, because things around the disturbance where favorable for development. Odette last year, Peter, Lili in 1984, and many others. When the right things come together, nothing will stop a cyclone formation. Now, it's also true that from Mid-July to early October the Atlantic is extremely favorable for development, but that doesn't mean that we could have many days without a tropical cyclone during that period of time.

Ok, that's probably true. But at this moment I don't think the Golf of Mexico is a good place for development, not now and probably neither the first week of June.

Furthermore, according to the TWC in June the areas most favorable for development are the Gulf of Mexico, and the Western Caribbean. If you see the second of the links below you will notice that the Western Caribbean has more red dots than the Gulf of Mexico.
