That is a very cool thing to see the entire process unfold in safety.. 8-)

Tornado warning about 20 miles North in Clay County. That's about 20 miles N of where I'm at (I-35/I-29 intersection in the north part of KC). Radar indicated.

County sirens have just gone off.

Cool.

It's hard to see tornadoes here because of terrain and the fact that they are wrapped in rain. I've only watched one tornado in this state on TV(LIVE!!) and that was in Tuscaloosa, Alabama on December 16, 2000. It was an F4. It was about 8 miles south of where the camera was when it was first seen and the ABC station followed it until the rain shield hit and the camera was lost. It passed about 1 mile east of there and ended a short time later.

What was bizarre is the camera was NORTH of the tornado, usually there's a hail shaft and heavy rain in that direction, which is why everyone was surprised to see the thing.

The towercam was right off Exit 76 on I-20 there for reference as to how close the tornado was.

Well, if any consolation, my Notify! service from the Weather Channel worked. *shrug*

Looks like more storms are developing in the metro KC area.
