Killing frost this early A.M.

WELL.....it's right on time, the last of the KILLING frosts :grr: Here we are, 30 May and it's 31° right now with another 9 minutes till sunrise, sitting here, looking out the office window, everything is turning snow white......glad I didn't plant any frost sensitive veggies yet :roll: I bet ALL them people up in the high country camping this holiday weekend are "FREEZIN' their butts off this morning!" :lol:

Yeah, I believe it, Dennis. We had a frost advisory here last night, but it only went down to about 50. Some of the mountains north of here probably did get it though. I'll enjoy the nice weather today (Hi of 72, dewpoint in the 40's) because that mess in the midwest is supposed to arrive here tomorrow in time for our picnic.

Is that when your last frost normally occurs?

of 7000 feet, May 30th would be a fairly typical last frost day of the season. Down here at 4500 feet we have seen frost as late as April 30. Technically, 31F is not a killing frost nor even a hard freeze but cold sensitive plants can be damaged.
