Fl the protective shield
Why did I see in another thread that people were saying that Florida is going to be a protective shield against hurricanes hitting the East coast of Florida. Please show any back up proof of that so their can be a case.

Some believe that the threat to the Fla. EC has lessened because of "climate change",while a others insist that & weak El Nino will create a flow that will cause storms to recurve well before making it here. There are a handfull of other theories out there as to why the EC of Fla will not be hit this season, but there are still others who say the threat is very real as it is every year. When you live in a area that has a tropical climate in the summer, has very warm SSTs surounding it & has been hit by some of the most strongest & costliest hurricanes that the U.S. has ever experienced..The threat is very real.As great a tool as the internet is,it is a source of too much info,by that I mean that there are so many people out there offering so many opinions that it tends to create more questions than answers. This is the case with these hurricane forecasts.Every site has a difference of opinions on landfall probabilities, anolog years, etc. Its a hard to get a handle of what to go with.My advice to those who live on the GOM or EC coast is to have an open mind, what I said earlier about living in areas where your climate is tropical in the summer & bath water like SSTs & hurricanes have hit before applies to those areas as well.A hurricane could hit you or me any season,we shouldn't be recurving storms before there is a storm to recurve & we should take all of these different forecasts with a grain of salt.

Tell me about it..On one side you have NOAA,FEMA,NHC & local media telling you to be prepared for the worst & hope for the best, reminding you to know to evacuation routes & so on & then on the other side you have people recurving hurricanes that are not even there & talking climate change
As of now I live in Miami, when I move to Seattle that will be the day that I no longer worry about a hurricane hitting.I'm not moving to Seattle any time soon so it appears I will continue to keep my eyes on the tropics.
