#1 Postby senorpepr » Fri Jun 04, 2004 3:34 pm

MAKU, Orumiyeh (IRNA) -- A 12-year-old girl was killed at a village in this northwestern Iranian city near the border with Turkey after flash floods hit the region Friday night.

The floods, triggered by torrential rains, damaged farmlands and homes at seven villages and washed away roads, but the extent of destruction has yet to be decided.

The natural disasters office of Maku has sent a team of relief workers to assist local people in the affected area.
