A Very sad day indeed.

Thankfully now he is in a much better place.

One of the best ever to grace the oval office and by far the best we have had in my lifetime. A president like no other.

I've been crying on and off all day. I knew it was coming, but this is worse than I expected. I feel like I lost someone who has lived with me my whole life and yet I never met the man. Here in the last six months or so, I have really tried to study up on his life and his Presidency, since I knew this day was coming.

R.I.P. Mr. Reagan :cry:

God bless Mr. Reagan. He was a great president and an even better man. May his family know that they have all the support of My family and many others. I will miss President Regan but atleast god took him into his kingdom from the horrible disease he was suffering.

He valued the strength of this country and freedom above all else. He would have been stern about the iraqi prisioner mess but here would not have allowed the humiliation and apology pandering that has been so governmentally present.

into dementia, and, see the effects on family

knowing who you are, after raising you and loving
you, all of your life.

I got home from work, and, saw this thread, and,
I've been using that new box of Kleenex, since.

It doesn't matter how I vote.

My heart goes out to the Reagan family, this
evening.

AMEN!!! This is a sad disease and horrible to watch what one goes through with it.

The world has truly lost a GREAT MAN and the US has lost A WONDERFUL PRESIDENT!!!

I remember when the Berlin Wall went up and thanks to President Reagan I remember when it came down, a day I cried for joy. I lived through the Cold War and I remember when it ended thanks to President Reagan.

This world is a much better place because Ronald Reagan shared his vision with us.

I praise God for taking him home and am Praying for comfort for his family.

He was a true tough guy,,the type not often seen in public office. I remember when he got shot in 1981..he told the surgeons before he was put under : " I hope you are all Republicans" I remember a few occasions when he put members of the press in their place. During his terms in office he had the respect off all, even the democrats, no small feat at all.

Sincere condolences to all Americans on the passing of this great man.

I remember many Americans critisizing his invasion of a small island (Grenada) but, believe me, most of the people in this region (including myself) were fully behind him. A very serious and downright scary situation was developing in Grenada and we in the other islands were beginning to wonder who was next on the list. Clearly, something had to be done and (at the request of a group of eastern Caribbean leaders) America took action. Most Grenadians will be eternally grateful.

That invasion was launched from Barbados and I can vividly remember being awakened in the wee hours of the morning by the frequent overfights of huge jet aircraft (I believe they were called galaxies). I knew something extraodinary was taking place...

May he rest in peace.

Definitely very sad to see him go, especially given Reagans popularity and the fact he was very close to his wife Nancy to begin with. Ronnie and Nancy were like the greatest couple in politics. It was a classic love affair we may not see for quite sometime in politics.

but I think just the fact that mr. reagans suffering has come to an end, we can all say that he's in the good hands of the lord and always will be.

RIP Ronald Wilson Reagan.

Ronald Reagan had the unique characteristics of toughness, humanness, boldness, weakness, and even humor that made us very comfortable with him as a leader.

He was "who he was" as a leader and we were ok with that. He never took life so seriously that there wasn't a smile of reassurance or a crack of humor, and he always made you feel that things were going to be ok even in the midst of a crisis.

That balance of character in a leader is hard to come by...and as history defines his Presidential leadership I suspect they will discover that he was near the top end of the scale for those reasons.

Breeze...I can understand your perspective on this man and his family. For those around him, especially his family, to see this leader among leaders fail to the point of non-recognition is such a huge and overwhelming change. Still, his affliction will serve to encourage research at a faster rate and in more immediacy even in his death.

He was a better man than he was an actor. He probably was a better man than he was a politician.

Somehow, though, he managed to be himself as President at a time when most of us admired him for that very reason.

More details about Reagan's funeral are coming out:

He will lie in state in the Rotunda of the Capitol on Wednesday and probably Thursday. His funeral will likely be sometime on Friday at Washington National Cathedral. He will be buried at sunset Friday at his library on the Pacific Ocean.

More than anything Regan was proud of this country and the "right and might" that democracy brings. It is my opinion that he would not have permitted his presidency to become an on bended knee one.
Was your request to not bring that perfectly permissible observation a request made by an individual poster or one made as a moderator attempting to supress an observation that they themself might not have made or wish to be made? Thanks
