Saddam Probably Gone

#1 Postby Steve H. » Fri Mar 21, 2003 7:49 am

As ABC reported this morning that Intelligence said eyewitness accounts had Saddam being pulled from rubble onto a gurney with Oxygen mask over his face. If he isn't dead he's probably badly wounded, and out of the picture. An attack of that magnitude would be hard to survive if this indeed is true. Negotiations are going on with Republican Guard and a deal will likely be cut. That is why they have not pounded the City. I get nervous though when you have ground troops moving in quickly with no good softening of the areas around Baghdad. There will be higher casualties with the ground offensive. The Iraqi army likely is going to concede the south and dig in and fight in and around the city. I don't like the fact that they could be drawing our troops into their lair. Issue is that they could use their WMD once they draw a good number in towards the city. Hopefully the Republican Guard will raise the white flag before then.

I agree Steve. It's a dangerous situation for sure. If the troops around Bagdad chose to fight I'm sure that the air campaign against them will accelerate. Just had a report on NBC that B-52's have just taken off from England. I don't know how long of a flight it is but somewhere in the 6 hour rainge I would guess. Look for a big strike somewhere this afternoon!

Heard on MSNBC that the B-52's are not going necessarily to bomb Baghdad. They can be used for other things since they can stay in the air longer than others... not saying that is NOT their mission, but that they can do other things as well.

Lets just pray sadddam is as flat as a pancake! I truly hope this will be a swift and effective war. The faster it is over the quicker the troops can come home.

There was talk about the person on Iraqui tv was a "double"
Well by the way that person talked, and looked, it was either a double or Saddam on major pain killers.

A double: That's a laugh, like something out of a bad movie.
