Looks like the letter "I" being the 9th letter in the English and Spanish Alphabet might not be a lucky letter for the Atlantic concerning tropical cyclones just according to the last 3 years. For example, in 2001 we had Hurricane Iris which devastated southern Belize and then was replaced by Ingrid, 2007. In 2002, Hurricane Isidore left in pieces the most western part of Cuba, and then its cousin Lili finished the work. Also the system impacted the coast of the Yucatan Peninsula as a Cat. 3 hurricane causing lots of damage. If that was not all then after entering once again the Gulf of Mexico the system impacted southern Louisiana as a strong TS. Isidore was replaced by a weird name, at least for me, Ike, 2008. And to finish last year the monster of Isabel developed and its history is very known, now is know that Ida will replace the name in 2009. So lets see if this year Iván will be the big news or just a fish cyclone like in 1998.

I think it has to do with the time of year that the "I" storm occurs rather than the "I" storm being cursed.
