Well it's been raining off and on here in LaPlace. They had some flooding in Gramercy, La., which is 15 mi from here. From what I've seen on radar all day today, it looks like the Mississippi Gulf Coast is getting most of the rain also.

Define "real storm?"
Do you mean a named storm or a numbered depression? Pretty much the same thing happens on this site as what you are seeing now, during an "unreal (?)" storm -- lots of discussion and information being shared.
It's all tropical weather as far as I'm concerned and I enjoy reading and learning about the ones that don't become "real" as much as I do about the ones that don't. It's the best way to understand what will and will not become a real player in the season.
Stick around and you'll find out how good it gets.

You will see when things heat up in the Atlantic how this forum will be very active with the members discussing and analizing the systems.And with the help from the pro mets you will be informed with plenty of evidence on what will happen with a system in particular.

Busy
LaplaceFF it gets really busy with new threads popping up constantly. If you don't have lots of time it becomes difficult to keep up. It is really exciting. Many people expressing opinions and analysis and teaching those like me with limited knowledge but lots of interest. Hang around and try out the chat. When there is anything brewing in the GOM or even close there are a lot of people chatting. That gets really fun.

During Isabel, it was consistent over 100 people on the boards, with the maxima of 152 reached on the 16th of Sept ... and even more so, threads, posts, and views were piled up at an alarming rate ...
But for the most part, it really picks up during a time of an active TC ...
Oh, and I forgot to mention, the memberlist was at about half of what it is now ...
