True, Mary. At UK ER, at least, we almost NEVER saw OB patients after their 20th week. They always went straight up to OB for emergent problems, with the exception of major traumas, in which case, an OB doc was called down to assist.

I only remember seeing one full-termer come in when I was working there. She had been in an MVA, arrested, and died, and unfortunately, lost the baby also. They performed a c-section right there in an effort to save the baby since mom's head trauma was obviously fatal. Worst thing, in terms of newborns/unborns I ever saw was the miscarriage at 19 weeks. Had to take the baby and wrap him up to take to the lab for autopsy. He was so perfectly formed and fit in my two hands. He was the size of a twinkie. :(

...and another thing!

Now, ALL the primary surgeons on the show are gone (Eriq LaSalle is long gone, Paul McCrane's character bit the big one with a helicopter, and Alex is being booted off). So, who do they call when they need a trauma surgeon to come to the ER?

Good question Shawn! I just hope they don't consult that two timing, macho, egotistical male surgeon, that Lizzy slept with once or twice. I didn't like him at all. I'd take Benton over him anyday!

I just saw a preview for a new show on NBC starting after the olympics... It stars Sharif Atkins... He was a doctor on Er, and was in the car with Jing-Mei, and Dr. Pratt in the season finale of this season.. The show is called Hawaii, a cop and robber type of drama based in Hawaii... Looks pretty good... http://www.nbc.com/nbc/Primetime_Previe ... hows.shtml

Here is the link if you all are interested!

Just thought Id pass it along...

Cool, thanks for the preview!

LAX looks interesting, to say the least. Medical Investigation looks like a CSI rip-off, but hey! It's on NBC so it works for me.

Actually though, Lisa, Atkins character Dr. Gallant was not in the car with Pratt and Jing-Mei. He already left to go overseas (remember him kissing Neela goodbye?).
