I can remember pumping gas as a kid after school and during the summer for .28 CENTS a gallon  HOLY CRAP....I just gave away my AGE :D I had a Volkswagon Square Back Sedan, I'd pump $5 worth and drive all WEEK on that

Now....we dropped to $1.84, don't see any further drop until AFTER the 4th of July, you know us business owners, we LOVE to "put the SCREWS" to the tourists  :x

Dennis,

I still remember "gas wars", during which one could get Regular at 19 cents a gallon.

For you young'uns, try to imagine gas, taking your sweetie out on a date with a FINE dinner and a first-run movie at a total cost of about $30...

Those WERE the days! :D

As a teen in 1968, I was NO cheapskate, Helen...quite the contrary, as my habits were envied by the less adroit of my classmates at that time.

Helen, you have NO conception of how inexpensive life USED to be BUT...in the same breath, minimum wage back then was what.....$1.05 an hour  I found an OLD grocery ad in some old newspapers I saved, grocery prices now are ALMOST the same as they were back then. For instance, the ad had tomato sauce, 8 oz. cans for 4/$1.00....Walmarts price today, 5/$1.00
