The media is SUPPOSED to have an adversarial relationship with the presidency (or any other branch of the government). If they didn't, they wouldn't be doing their job. They are no more bent on destroying Bush than they were on destroying Clinton, Bush Sr, Reagan or any other sitting president during their time in office. In fact, post-9/11 "patriotism" has resulted in Bush getting a free ride up until very recently.

they dont seem to have an adversarial relationship with osama bin laden

ROFL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :D  What?????????Here, have another glass of Kool-Aid! :P

Adversarial like they did with Clinton? LOL!
And Bush has never had a free ride. The overwhelming majority of the media is liberal and naturally it shows.

I'm not defending him at all. Those defending him were the ones in 1990 when decided to keep him in power, and those that found very lucrative to start the "food-for-oil" programme.
WMD he used against kurds (nice to see how no one reacted then) and the few found now are the remainings of WMD we gave him to fight Iran...

But again, many places in the world causes billions of deads but nobody cares, so one more one less... Oops, Iraq has got something more than other places where people die in mass...

PaolofromRome wrote:J, I thought (and the rest of the world did) that war in Iraq was because of 9/11. Am I (and the rest of the world) wrong?

This war was because of oil control. period.

Al Qaeda and 9/11 guilties are still free.

Terror is still at high level.

The others are just bla bla bla to justify a war that has no reasons,
except for Mr Bush and his oil supporters.

You mind showing me just where the heck all that oil is? AND where its going to? and if so then do you mind explaining to me why the prices for it remain high?

You really sometimes make me ashame to say i am ITALIAN. And i surely hope everyone else over there doesnt feel this way as you do because if so i would love to know when Italy changed and became a bunch of wimps. I am soooo tired of seeing you rant here about this countries short commings with the war in Iraq and other issues surrounding 9-11 as you put it especially after all this country has done for Italy.

As others have staed here we had plenty of good reason to go into Iraq and i for one will never look back and question it. NO SADDAM = Better world and a better IRAQ! PERIOD!

Are you saying that we never heard a peep about the Clinton scandals in the mainstream media? LOL! From Whitewater to Monicagate, the media talked about nothing but ....
Bush did have a relatively free ride, up until about halfway through the war in Iraq. The aftershocks of 9/11 insulated this president from being questioned on big ticket items like the Patriot Act, his tax cuts and the treatment of POWs in Afghanistan and Guantanamo Bay. Reporters and editors and media outlet owners are American, too ~ and after 9/11 most of us were too overcome to be critical.
And the media is corporate, not liberal. Reporters are, generally speaking, socially liberal and fiscally conservative, as are most people of their education level and financial bracket. Reporters, however, are not the be-all-end-all of information dissemination ~ they have a chain of command to answer to, and that chain more often than not consists of officers in a coporate conglomerate who will make sure that the interests of themselves and their sister companies are looked after, regardless of politics.

because chad he is winning. liberals want to destroy bush. they want to undermine the war. they want to kill the economic expansion. if kerry wins the conservative movement is dead. they will bribe people to vote for them, and we will be a nothing nation

good question...my answer is this:

I'm proud to be an American and even though the rubbish I hear from certain not to be mentioned specifically posters annoys me, I find it rather refreshing to proclaim my optimism, and respect for my country in "their" faces!!!!

Because everyone needs a laugh now and then.

Depends on which Italians your talking about. :P LOL

But serious you have a point there j. Maybe we should just stop worrying about countries such as this and others who dont share our views and worry about our OWN and those that do and for those that dont then dont send or do anything else for them (Aid wise). Save us alot of tax dollar money for one and alot of headaches for another.

Whew! Thanks Chad, you worried me there for a second.... :P

Even if we all disagree on what direction America should be taking, I have NO doubt that we all love and respect our country, and only want what is best for it. Sometimes in the heat of debate that is an important thing to remember!

I know you'd rather prefer me not to survive but just to be grilled.
Anyway let me ask you a simple think: whay you end yr posts with the word "peace"?

Paolo I would not hesitate to sacrifice my life to save yours.I debate this same subject everyday with friends and co-workers and we remain friends even though we disagree on the isssues. What is your answer to stop terrorism? How would you (the rest of the world)acted after 9-11?

I end my post with "Peace" because that is what I wish for.

Peace
