Unusual Isabel aftermath stat.

#1 Postby OuterBanker » Mon Jun 21, 2004 11:11 am

No Room at the inn  There are aftermaths of hurricanes that don't show up for months. We experienced it this weekend. A friend was having a baby and was sceduled for Chesapeake Hospital. She got there and there was no room, Norfolk no room, etc. She finally would up at the new OBX hospital after going into labor. Another woman just had a baby there, she was moved our our friend had her baby, she was moved out, etc. Seems there has been an Isabel baby boom in Hampton Roads, the OBX and everwhere they lost power for several days. Seems there always is a baby boom after a hurricane usually effecting a smaller area. This year it will make a difference in statistics because it effected a large area which has a large population.

*does quick math*

Yep... 9 months since Isabel.

There was also probably a boom after the huge blackout in the Northeast and Canada last August.
