Curious about something...

#1 Postby wx247 » Sun Jun 27, 2004 5:51 pm

On 9/11 many people contacted emergency officials and family members/friends via the airphones on the airplanes. Now, the phones have been taken off planes. Why?

Have they? I've flown a handful of times since 9/11 and the phones were still there. In some planes, they're not on the backs of every single seat -- usually just the middle one.

Was this something that recently happened?

Well I flew on Delta and the flight attendant said they had removed airphones for security reasons. I assumed it was on all flights. Maybe not...

I haven't seen them on every plane that I've been on either. I think that some of the victims in those planes also used their cellphones.

I'll check it out again next time I fly. I just recall seeing them and thinking about the passengers on Flight 93 talking to their family members before Beamer said, "Let's roll." Since I haven't flown for a while (drove to KY for Christmas, so I guess it's been about a year or so), they might all be gone now.
